I have some users who report echo and static on their calls. The users are using our WebRTC Chrome app to answer calls, and they are answering calls from the PSTN going through a FreeSWITCH server.
FreeSWITCH 1.4b is working much better than Asterisk 11.5, which pretty much has one way audio one out of every ten calls. But the static is there.
I suspect it might be related to USB drivers or overall CPU usage, resource utilization on the machines. This happens on Mac OS and Windows in Chrome Stable.
I have one guy who plugged in a pair of earbuds into the audio jack on his PC, then put his USB headset over top of that and configure the output to go through the earbuds and the input to go through the USB headset. He's had no static since.
This leads us to suspect something wrong with the USB drivers and how they interact with Chrome. We didn't have the static issue using the
http://tryit.jssip.net demo in both Firefox and Chrome, but we DO have this issue in Chrome Apps (packaged apps). According to our users, it's something that gets worse over time.
What do we need to do to help resolve this?
Thank you!
