Hello

After many months dveloping an application using Kurento (more than a year) I had to discard this technology. Now I want to create a new application using PHP.

The first thing I need is a signaling server. I have been reading opinions on the internet and think the best alternative is develop one using websockets.

My applications will not be so big, lets says 500 concurrent users at a time.

So I need to develop a php websocket server and I'd like to ask your opinion. Is a good idea to use php? how can I get started to develop it? any framework to help?

Thanks so much!

Why do you want to develop from scratch and not use one of the available platforms?

Best Regards,
Silvia.

There's a couple around: you might want to look at https://webrtcindex.com/

Best Regards,
Silvia.

Thanks for the fast reply!

For future googlers, seems this article explains how to use Ratchet to do it: https://medium.com/@amirsanni/building-a-text-audio-and-video-chat-web-app-using-webrtc-and-ratchet-45863446e79a

However I found this GitHub project that solves the problem without an extra service: https://github.com/bndr/webRTC-php
