Good day everyone,

I have 2 questions related to walkie-talkie hand-held device:

*Can I integrate WebRTC with walkie-talkie? If yes, can you give me a sample code and instructions how to do it.

*If I cannot integrate WebRTC with walkie-talkie, is WebRTC a better half-duplex communication technology than walkie-talkie?

The reason why I'm interested with WebRTC it's because we need to find a JavaScript code that will work with that hand-held device.

If not, I need to give an explanation to my boss why WebRTC is better if we cannot use walkie-talkie.

Our company has a business related to bus drivers. So basically these customers are not techy.
But giving valid explanation might shift their mind to adapt in new technology.

Please help.

Thank you.

I'm interpreting that  you have people in offices that need to use browsers to reach bus drivers via their walky talkies.

Sounds like you just want to have a native or browser based application running on a device whose audio out becomes a walky-talkies audio in, and vice versa. That device servers as a bridge between people in offices and people in the field.

What device it could be? And can WebRTC help with that?

This would be a simple application for webrtc. Basically it's your basic chat room without video. The only interesting aspect is controlling the button the radio (the push part of push to talk). You'd need a basic signalling server and web server in the cloud some place. For a proof of concept, you could use any pc that runs a recent version of chrome, and a light controlled switch pointed at the PC's display to control the button. Any web developer with some webrtc experience could produce a crude proof of concept in a day or two. To do the real thing, you'd want a single board computer running android with gpio pins (to control the relay operating the "push-to-talk" button), and a moderately competent android programmer. An odroid-c2 would be my suggestion.
