Hi,

Yes that's the plan, but we can't give out any target date. As you can see now the current Chrome for Android is based on M16 (the first webRTC support for PCs landed in M18).

Hi John,
We still do not have any dates we can share at this point.

Thanks Ray.  I see that Chrome on Android is on v18 and Chrome on iOS is v19.  It also looks like stable v20 release on desktop now includes WebRTC support.....I'm sure it doesn't work exactly like this but was wondering whether this indicates that when Android/iOS apps reach v20 they will also include support for WebRTC?

Hi John,

If that were the case and coupled with the fact that a new version of Chrome is released every 6 weeks, we would have then just given an exact date :)

We realize how important the mobile platforms will be especially to developers. Please hang in there and we will share specifics once we are more ready.

Thanks,
Ray

In the meantime you can try out Bowser, a WebRTC browser for Android and iOS from Ericsson Research:

Ericsson's Bowser uses ROAP signaling which is now deprecated, so thats no good especially if one wants to establish peer connections between a desktop (running Chrome) and a mobile platform.

Mobile support is key in choosing a technology for developing video enabled apps. Any updates on this are much appreciated.
