Dear WebRTC community, It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Bernard Aboba on February 1. Bernard worked for Microsoft for many decades and was a key contributor to the WebRTC standards and a highly valued member of our community. Bernard made significant contributions to WebRTC and it’s safe to say that without Bernard and his dedication to the project, WebRTC wouldn’t be what it is today. His expertise and dedication were instrumental in defining and evolving the core APIs, driving adoption of the technology, and fostering collaboration within the community. Beyond his technical prowess, Bernard was a great partner, an insightful, patient and respected colleague. He was always willing to entertain new ideas, offer advice or critique as needed, contribute where resolution was needed, and do so in a manner that was both respectful and solidly grounded in a deep technical understanding. He was a friend to the RTCWEB process from the very earliest days. Through the many twists and turns of the WebRTC road, and through disagreements and reunifications of the technical paths, his commitment to the vision and to the goal of a community consensus process never wavered. Soft-spoken but determined, his input was welcome in many places, and his ability to achieve consensus and forward progress was legendary. He will be deeply missed by the community and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Bernard’s family and friends during this difficult time. The WebRTC community has lost a true champion, and we are grateful for Bernard's invaluable contributions. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shape the future of WebRTC. Sincerely, Harald, Niklas, and Tommi - on behalf of Google and the WebRTC Community
