Hello my friends !

It's been quite a long time without news from my part, very sorry about that but I haven't stopped thinking about you and ultimate in Africa. Discs for All (which will replace Discs for Africa) has been active last year in Mali, trying to start the game there, and we've had recently contacts from Burundi where about 30 discs just arrived to help the guys there develop games and put a federation in place. I was just wondering if you had been in touch with Burundi at all ?
I don't know if Joe is still in Kigali but I'd love to hear that yes he is and that people are still playing in Rwanda, any news Joe ?
I know Ben is still there in Uganda, organising tournaments so I presume Ultimate is doing well in Kampala.

I'd love to hear from you guys and I shall pass on contacts from the guys in Burundi, to see if you can give them advice on how to locally grow the sport. We can try and send discs but it isn't easy to guarantee sustainable field activity from afar.

In case you didn't see there is a facebook page for Discs for All leading to blogs and articles (mostly in French am afraid) but you will be able to see some pictures from Mali at least.

Cheers,
Rodrigue

Hey there -

I have actually left Rwanda now as my wife's contract ended.  However,
people are still playing in Kigali and some expats doing very informal
stuff elsewhere (last I heard).  You could try contacting Nic Pottier
(cced into this message) as he has taken over at least some of the
organisation/energies behind things in Kigali.

I am now in Colorado and am trying to find time to get out and play.
Maybe I can help do some advertising here for you.  What would help?

Joe

Ben, I hope the tournament went really well, I haven't heard anything.

Hi Joe/Rodrigue,

Great to hear from you.   The tournament was a successs, again at the ISU, with an epic final between Kenya and Uganda on Sunday afternoon, where we prevailed.  Organiser this time was Brian Kaswa, making his debut as 7HUC tournament director.

Nic braught the Rwanda team who as usual had a blast and won Spirit of the Game along with the new team Masaka team.

Rwanda will be holding  a hat tourney in September, any many of us form Kampala are planning to attent. Perhaps some players can come from Burundi too...

Cheers,
Ben

Hey guys,

Ben beat me to the punch, but ya, we did make it to the Kampala
tournament.  Super fun time but we decided we needed to step it up to
give Uganda a run for their money next year.

A new experienced player, Bethany Ericson, moved to Kigali a little
while back and she's been cracking the whip, so now we practice a few
times a week.  She's also leading the charge by organizing Rwanda's
first Hat tournament next month on the 17th of September.

If you have any contact info for folks in Burundi I'd love to pass on
the invite, it would be great to get them out there to play.

Cheers,

-Nic
