I am not able to boot through new kernel in My laptop. Though the same
compiled kernel booted easily on Lab Computer.

i think there is some problem with ur laptop
architecture...........try a 2.4.* kernel and compile once
again...........

But why is that updated kernels work well such as 2.6.30...??

HEy try a Fresh Stable Branch KErnel like Say 2.6.32.2
