Hi, new here and not sure if this is the place for this question. I am waiting delivery of a Noel Booth convertible guitar/banjo. Not looking for any particular song but a source for banjo tunes tabbed for 6 string guitar, if such exists. Thanks in advance.
Yes it would, KC. What I'm looking for is banjo instrumentals, riffs, runs etc that are tabbed for guitar, not necessarily specific songs. Like I said, not sure if this is the right place to ask, appears maybe its not. Sorry.
Whats the diff? Just tune the high e string to d. Then for most banjo tabs your set because thefirst 4 strings on both instruments are the same. Or just adjust for the 2 fret difference on the first string.
Or, get tabs fo a 6 string banjitar..then its same same.

I really enjoy what little of Earl's guitar work I've heard: You Are My Flower, Jimmie Brown The Newsboy and I Am Thinking Tonight Of My Blue Eyes. I believe all of these are done in C shapes with the guitar capoed at the 7th fret. Did he do any tunes with no capo in other keys?
I just noticed that you had a back-up guitar in in Earl's characteristic vamping style. It is very interesting style and reminds on the clawhammer "bum-dit-ty" rhythm. I wonder if it was clawhammer who influenced this, or if it was from Maybelle Carter?
The On-line Guitar Archive (OLGA) was the first Internet library of guitar and bass tablature, or "tabs". Born from a collection of guitarist internet-forum archives, it was a useful resource for musicians of all genres for over a decade.
The website began its life in the newsgroups rec.music.makers.guitar.tablature[1] and alt.guitar.tab[2], where users would post tabs they had written or requests for tabs of certain songs or artists. The problem was that after a few days, the contents of the forum would be aged (i.e. removed). Around 1992 the posts were collected together by James Bender at UNLV into an ftp site that later became www.OLGA.net. In 1994 Cathal Woods took over the project as archivist.
In 1996, EMI Publishing filed a complaint with UNLV, claiming that the archive was in breach of copyright law with songs they had the rights to. Although OLGA was never threatened directly, UNLV kicked the project off its server. Then in 1998, after a new home for the site was found, OLGA received a similar copyright complaint from the Harry Fox Agency (HFA). As a result, OLGA was forced to shut down, re-emerging later as OLGA incorporated, a registered non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the archive and providing for its bandwidth. The site prior to this final move was preserved as "the old archive," and contributions since the move were stored in "the new archive".
In June 2006 they received a take down letter from lawyers representing the NMPA and the MPA[3], although by this time temporary clones of the archive had started to appear on sites such as Renegade Olga.[1]
To be a candidate for the archive, a file was required to be the author's own work (i.e., interpretation of how to play the song) and cannot have been derived from a published music book, otherwise inclusion in OLGA would have constituted a copyright violation.
In 2006, the Archive removed all 34,000 tablatures on the site.[5] A note posted on the site indicated that those running the site had received "a 'take down' letter from lawyers representing the National Music Publishers Association and the Music Publishers Association", according to the linked letter on the front page.[6] In the letter it is stated that OLGA "makes available tablature versions of copyrighted musical compositions owned or controlled by members of the NMPA and MPA" [7]
Although originally a notice on the site suggested that the shutdown would only be temporary while OLGA attempted to resolve legal issues, the long time archivist for the site has indicated that the situation is permanent. On a personal web site he stated, "For twelve years I ran OLGA - the On-Line Guitar Archive. RIP."[8]
Thank you for visiting. This is a place I'm building online to both support others and to receive support. Here I will post things that I'm working on in my home studio as a musician and teacher - analog recordings, works in progress, bonus tracks and also lesson videos, guitar tabs and live streams.
Connecting with me here is a very real way to support the work on a day to day basis. As 2024 unfolds, so will a new flow for what I share and when, but my intention is to post content a few times a month - maybe once a week.
The way musicians work has changed a lot in the last few years and I believe this will continue to be the case. Personally, more and more, I want to create at the tempo of my own being, with minimal influence from commerce and culture. This platform will allow me to share my most personal work with less interference from third parties and algorithms. Thank you for joining me here.
Access to everything I post here, which includes an evolving library of exclusive downloadable music, guitar tablature, video and journal posts, plus I may send you physical media in the mail from time to time.
Here's just a few shots I grabbed of the show. And I just want to say thanks to Dave, Oed, Bobby and Peter for the great performance, the great music and for taking the time to play your songs and meet your fans. The crowd couldn't get enough and I know it meant so much to a lot of us to get to meet you all and see you play that night. Looking forward to another great show in November 2020!
I know some of you fans are in bands and actually do realOcean Blue covers. Those would be absolutely great for the CD. I've gotplenty of server room and a ton of bandwidth to kill. Send me an email at the above email address with your cover and I'll post it right away for all to hear. I look forward to hearingeveryone's songs, as I'm sure you all are too. When you've decided on a song, just let me know and I'll include it in the list below. This is just sowe don't get twelve versions of one song. Otherwise send anysong you won't mind having everyone else listen to. Have fun!

The Ocean Blue live during the CMJ Music Marathon at the Mercury Lounge, in New York City on October 19, 2000. I wasn't sure if anyone had already done this or not, but I had no idea that this show was online until yesterday, so I figured if I was out of the loop enough to miss it, maybe many of you were too. So enjoy the show! Click here for some demi-decent CD sleeves I threw together to go in your jewel case. The album artwork should automatically show up if you import into iTunes. I also noticed something interesting about one of our favorite songs in this list. I remember once reading where Dave said that Denmark is actually Either/Or played backwards. Sure enough the chords in each song are identical but in reverse order. But that's not what he meant, he really meant that if you actually play Denmark backwards, you will hear Either/Or. Check it out if you don't believe me. Pretty crazy stuff isn't it?
I ran across a web site last week called www.guitaretab.com and was impressed to find very good guitar tabs of Ocean Blue songs amongst their pages. So I emailed the author of these tabs to see if I could host them on this web site and he graciously agreed. So with one brand new song never been tabbed before and three oldies but goodies, here they are. All these tabs are courtesy of Reggie Peratrovich. Thanks Reggie!
Riverside Guitar Tabs - One A New Look for the WebSiteBoredom has once again reared its ugly head and the result was I created a new look for The Ocean Blue Guitar Page. Same info, same tabs, just a new overall look for the web site. I haven't been working on too many new songs lately, I know I've been aslacker. But until The Ocean Blue decides to do a few shows in thewestern states, I'm on guitar tabbing strike. ;-) The legendfor this site is as follows: blue fonts arecompleted tabs, orange fonts are active hyperlinks, gray fonts are tabs you've already been to,and whitefonts are tabs yet to be written. Thanks for your continuing support! Oh yeah, this site has permanently moved to www.danmarx.org/tobso please (for the last time, I promise) update your bookmarx. Thanks! The Ocean Blue GuitarGuestbookI finally broke down and decided to getone of those free guestbooks for this page. So please feel free to drop in and sign it. Let us know what songs you just love playing on your guitar the most! *Due to spamming, the guestbook has been removed completely.
