The Quickie Xtender electric assist wheelchair accessory expands the range of mobility for manual wheelchair users by adding power assisted wheels to a manual frame. The Xtender increases your travel distance and propulsion efficiency and reduces overall fatigue while allowing you to maintain the look, control, and functionality of a manual wheelchair.
(Quickie Xtender shown on Quickie 2 wheelchair)
The Xtender features motorized rear wheels that increase the force you apply to the handrims. This increases your range of mobility by reducing energy expenditure by as much as 45% and decreasing the burn of fatigue. Research has also shown that the Xtender manual power assist may help reduce or even prevent the occurrence of secondary injuries to the wrists, elbows, and shoulders including Repetitive Strain Injury.
The Xtender's electronically synchronized rear wheel units continually communicate with each other and adjust their speeds to facilitate smooth, straight propulsion. This helps overcome uneven arm strength to further increase propulsion efficiency, which may be particularly beneficial to users with hemiplegia, paraplegia, quadriplegia, or tetraplegia.
The Xtender's quick-release wheels allow you to remove the entire wheel assembly from the wheelchair. This allows for easy transitions between traditional manual and assisted propulsion. Because the Xtender is used with manual wheelchair frames, it stores and transports just like a manual wheelchair.
The user-friendly Xtender wheelchair accessory features several functions that require zero programming, including Rollback Prevention and Downhill Speed Control. During hill climbs, Rollback Prevention maximizes your efficiency and reduces fatigue. Downhill Speed Control ensures a smooth, safe descent.

Capable of detecting your surroundings, conditionally automated vehicles can make informed decisions for themselves. However, these vehicles require the driver to remain alert and take control when requested.
Our technology relies on a digital high-definition map that provides a 3D image of the road and the surroundings with information on road geometry, route characteristics, traffic signs and special traffic events. Check out the DRIVE PILOT routes mapped out in blue below and please keep in mind all other conditions must be met on these roads for system availability3.
Introducing DRIVE PILOT, an automated driving system available on your new EQS Sedan. Mercedes-Benz has introduced this feature to give you back time in a freeway traffic jam. We're excited to show you how DRIVE PILOT creates a paradigm shift in the driving experience and inform you about the important role you play behind the wheel.
Your vehicle is equipped with both Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC as well as Active Steering Assist, features that provide cooperative driving assistance. When using these systems, you remain responsible for the entire driving task. This means you must keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road at all times.
Your Mercedes-Benz is equipped with LiDAR, camera, radar, and ultrasonic sensors that work together to accurately detect the driving environment around you. DRIVE PILOT also uses regularly updated information from high definition maps, which provide accurate road geometry information miles ahead of the vehicle and beyond the eyesight of a driver.
Once you are driving on a pre-mapped freeway section and all necessary conditions are satisfied, DRIVE PILOT will show it is available indicated by both an icon in the instrument cluster as well as by a white light glowing in the steering wheel buttons. To activate DRIVE PILOT, press either one of the steering wheel buttons. The system will prepare to transition control from you by adapting the following distance to the vehicle in front and centering your vehicle in the lane. DRIVE PILOT is active once the status indicator lights on the side of the steering wheel and on top of the steering column are solid turquoise.
Once you have read the message in the instrument cluster, please acknowledge your understanding by pressing OK on the left button-panel on the steering wheel. Now, you can take your eyes off the road and turn your attention to other activities, providing useful time for in-car entertainment features if you wish. Please be aware that state and local laws may prohibit the fallback-ready user from using a hand-held mobile device. Please also be aware that no object should ever be placed between you and an airbag.
You will notice the turquoise status indicator lights remain solid at all times the DRIVE PILOT system is active. The set speed and following distance are set by DRIVE PILOT and cannot be manually adjusted by you, the fallback-ready user.
DRIVE PILOT automatically keeps a suitable distance from surrounding vehicles. The system can handle obstacles on the road, even stopped vehicles. If sufficient space is available, your Mercedes-Benz will drive around them within its own lane. DRIVE PILOT will not exit the current lane and therefore you may need to disengage the system to follow your planned route.
