In order to raise awareness of the sport, and maybe even be able to
plug a league more thoroughly for next year, what about taking one
weekend to have a clinic where those who have played, can try to teach
other, and bring others into the sport.

Trade off, one day we'll have to "work on the course" But we get more
people involved in the sport, and get some attention to our course for
a better tournament.

So it could go both ways.

Thoughts?

Can someone Email this site out to others, Vu?

Sounds like a decent idea. Proper throwing technique? Putting
Technique? Basic rules of the game?

Basics, Maybe getting the message out there to Schlemmer's and Ace to
help promote it, and getting the paper involved to get the word out.

I mean, the more people that play, the more chances of getting a
league / second park to play at.

Plus its an easy way to promote the sport, especially since we are
going to be out there throwing anyways.

Hey Randy would like to know anyway he could help us promote the
clinic. Said he could put it up around Lakeland, and probably get
something in to Westview and PH. Figure it can't hurt!

So we should get a date around... And hopefully get enough people to
help run it.

So Mid September? like 9-19?

When I get an Okay... I will let the Area Media Know and see if we can
get some promos for it.

I figure we can get the Standard, the News-Sun, the Shoppers Guide,
Herald Republic, Sturgis Journal, WTHD, WLKI, and maybe WNDU, WSBT, or
WSJV. Putting out an official news release may draw some attention.
And talking to Schlemmers and Topeka about promoting the event.

Only thing before we do it is to get Adam Givens around to make sure
that we have a few good instructors.

My opinion is that we should do this in the spring. Maybe we should
try it this fall too, but I think we'd have a better turnout in the
spring. wouldn't hurt doing it twice. Probably on a saturday. We need
to get with Adam and choose a date soon so we can get it promoted if
we're doing it this year.

I could put up a flier at Miller's. There's a lot of traffic through
the store, and there's a sort of bulletin board where people post
advertisements and bulletins about stuff happening around the
community. Anybody made any fliers ready to be put up anywhere?

Great idea Zee! Nothing made up yet. Guess we have not really
discussed it amongst ourselves yet. Maybe we can get Vu to get
something printed up, I can make free copies at station where I work.
We will get that as soon as we can.

Hey Vu you have Adam's number, give him a call and see if he would be
willing to help out. Sept. 19th sounds good, gives us a little time to
get some flyers out. If that works we can get flyers to Randy to put
up at schools.

I can put up flyers.  I've also written up an announcement to be played on Lakeland and Westview's morning announcements next week.

Flyers are a good start. I am thinking the 19th is a good day, like
10am-2pm? Does that work with everyone? Once we have details sorted,
I will email the media outlets.

We'll also need a Sign-up sheet and a release from liability.

We are coming up on 3 weeks away? Is there anything else that we'll
need to make available?

I don't know, did anyone else come up with 9/6.

That is only a week a way, that is not a lot of time to spread the
word, and generate interest.

We can do 2, I guess. One for a dry run, the other spread out to the
public more and a little more organized. Thoughts?

You guys are talking about two different things here. League and
Clinic.
Sept 6th is the start of fall league. Meeting at 1:00 at park.
Sept 19th doesn't work for me for a clinic. Fort Wayne Ace Race at
Moser park that day. If you want to do it that day it's cool with me,
but I won't make it.
Also Sept 27(sunday) is the Fort Wayne Fall series Tournament. I'll be
there as well. Guess I'll be missing that week of league play.

Kramer your our 'tech guy.' Can you make a flyer about the clinic,
signup sheet for contact info, liability release, etc. I know it's
alot to handle, but I have confidence in you! Besides, your the only
one who is unemployed. LOL!

I have Adam's number. When we agree on a date I'll call him or should
I ask his opinion on the date as well.

Then I say we push the clinic back til the 26th of September.

Hopefully the weather will hold. The Clinic will be from 10-2 pm.

All of the public is welcome, The more we get to play, the more the
sports grows.

Vu, can you let Adam know, if even about the site alone.

Flyer is up for review and NOT for distribution at this point!

If it is released in the next few days, then we can begin to print and
distribute them.

Also we will need to get the site to more people to get them involved
in discussions general discussions. I think we should get an email
list from those in the tournament to help get the discussions going.

We talked to Adam tonight on the course.

Also previously talked to Josh. I think he is up to it as well.

If anyone sees Bryan from K-Ville, we might be able to get some
Publicity to help him with his battle for the park in K-Ville.

I think we are a go for the 26th. Adam put it in his phone so I think
he is good to go with it.

And why isn't Shirley online here yet?

I think we are good to go with the Flyers.

I am going to submit to Staples to get some Printed.

The Parks Department is clear, but will not be able to help as they
have an event the same day at Pine Knob, and they do not want to take
away from that event. Trying to convince them that we are competing
for different demographics, but I doubt I will win that battle.

Prime Disc is also going to provide some help, Steve Dodge (owner)
will get back to me tomorrow after talking to his staff, and shipping
tomorrow what they can.

Once I get some fliers printed, I will talk to Schlemmers and Topeka
Hardware.

Also going to hit the town for posting some signs and spreading the
word.

Does the place Vu and Cheep got some vinyl from make some window
decals? Something like, "Just Throw It/Disc Golf" or something else
witty.

I was thinking that we could sell discs, bags, and/or whole starter
packs to people at the clinic (Like a floats-in-water disc, putter,
driver, and bag for $X). If we really get a lot of people who are
truly green, then they might even come without anything to throw. It's
a long drive back to Schlemmer's and then back to DCP. If we just
order a decent number of discs and bags from primediscs.com, then they
should be here by the 26th, I'd think.

We can have both basic and better quality discs available. Vu can show
off his disc dyeing talent to anyone who's interested. I just think
this would be a really good way to make the clinic cater to our target
audience, and we could make a couple bucks to cover costs, especially
if we sell snacks and beverages.

I don't know. This would require some actual monetary investment, but
I think it could pay off. Any ideas? Comments?

I like the idea, BUT. We have no idea how many people will show up and/
or be interested in buying some plastic. If we have a bad turnout then
we are stuck with discs, bags, etc. I already have extra discs sitting
around; don't need more. Not sure I want to make that commitment right
now.Let's see what kind of feedback we get from the media before we go
overboard.

As far as snacks and beverages, that would probably work. Bottled
water for sure, the water at the park sucks!

Kramer

It depends on what Prime is sending already.

The whole Idea is to welcome the public... Without trying to fleece
them... I plan on letting people look at my discs ask questions and
feel what the discs offer.

I think that down the road this may be an option if we offer some kind
of Tournament, where people can buy upgrade discs, but for now I would
say that this is bad Idea when we are trying to get publicity for the
sport.

Now, if Schlemmers or Topeka want to bring in Discs, and maybe offer a
discount, I wouldn't have a problem with a "licensed" Vendor at the
park, but I don't want to put up money for what may, or may not
sell... Forward thinking, but I feel that this isn't the venue for
this option... but willing to hear more rebuttals.

I agree with K and Vu. It is definetly a good idea but not quite yet.
Bottled water would be good idea. I am going to bring my discs as well
for anyone to check out, also will bring our custom designs in case
anybody who already has discs wants a dye on it. Tournaments would
probably be a better idea for offering discs. Maybe even giving discs
to winners or tourney cash for discs, bags, etc. like Fort Disc Golf
does. Have to see what kind of response we receive first.

Signs are available... I printed up 50 of them.

There is one at Schlemmer's; they are donating coupons to get 10% off
a disc or discs, to be given away at the function.

I also sent out the press release, still haven't received any contact
back. Just wanted to give an update.

Monday I plan on distributing more signs in LaGrange, does anyone want
to hit another town? I don't know the hot spots in those other towns.
