At Ankert University, California, Alisha (Priyanka Chopra) is the most beautiful girl on campus, with plenty of admirers. Awkward, nerdy Abhay (Uday Chopra) is in love with her, although she is unaware of his existence. One night, Alisha is partying with her friends and accidentally falls into a river. Abhay jumps in and rescues her from drowning, but her friends take her away before she regains consciousness. Abhay is further prevented from seeing Alisha the next day when her outraged father comes and removes her from college.
Abhay nurses dreams of uniting with Alisha for seven years as he moves on with his life. He invents a revolutionary software program that cross integrates all operating systems. He meets with an investor to try to sell it, and he excuses himself to call his father and ask for advice. While he is gone, the investor copies the files onto a drive and steals them. Abhay discovers that this investor is unscrupulous software salesman Siddharth 'Siddhu' Singh (Dino Morea), and he is now marketing the stolen software to a Singaporean firm as his own invention. Abhay goes to Singapore to confront Siddhu and sees Alisha at the company headquarters where she works as its PR representative. Still besotted, he follows her home. Due to a misunderstanding, she mistakes him for a nanny she was expecting from an employment agency. She is divorced from an unruly daughter named Tanya (Advika Yadav) and in search of another nanny, as Tanya drives everyone away. Abhay decides to become Tanya's nanny and keeps his identity a secret to stay close to Alisha.
Abhay takes care of the house mostly by paying contractors to clean it and he eventually wins over Tanya when he buys her the Rockband video game so she can become a rockstar. Tanya nicknames him "Froggy" because of his nerdy looks. Things become complicated when Siddhu shows up trying to romance Alisha and sells the stolen software to her company. Abhay finds out that Siddharth's real name is Varun Sanghvi and tries to hide from Varun even while he grows closer to Alisha. She confides in Abhay, and he dresses her up in glasses and old clothes to show her how differently people are treated when they appear to be unattractive. Alisha feels sorry for Abhay.
As the launch date for the software approaches, Abhay is unmasked by Varun who claims he is a delusional stalker and was never a nanny. Alisha is angry that he lied and orders Abhay out of the house without giving him a chance to explain.
She finds out from her daughter that Abhay is the mysterious person who rescued her in college; she realizes that when Abhay told her about the girl he loved in college for seven years, he was talking about her.
Alisha finds Abhay and apologizes to him saying that she has fallen in love with him. Abhay tells her that he created the software Varun is taking the credit for. They rush to the software launch to stop Varun who is easily discredited when he doesn't know the password to Abhay's software. Abhay is able to prove that it is his creation by entering the password. Abhay tells Alisha that she already knows the password: it is her name: A-L-I-S-H-A. Alisha and Abhay live happily with Tanya.
Conversely, Frank Lovece of Associated Press wrote, "Despite a few cute moments, the beauty-and-the-geek tale "Pyaar Impossible!" is a vanity project that shows that while love may or may not be impossible, nepotism is eternal."[5] Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express gave the film 1 out of 5, writing, "How do you watch a film you know will pan out exactly as you think it will from its first frame? By sitting stoically through Pyar Impossible."[6]
This Valentine's week, Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor will unite for an "impossible love story." The actors shared the official poster of their upcoming romantic film and also revealed its title, on Wednesday. The film is titled Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The poster features the film's lead pair Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor lovingly posing together. The caption accompanying the poster read, "This Valentine's week, experience an impossible love story! Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. in cinemas 9th February, 2024. A Maddock Films production." The film marks Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor's first collaboration.
Shahid Kapoor was last seen in the action thriller Bloody Daddy. He also starred in Raj and DK's crime thriller series Farzi. Before that, he featured in the sports drama Jersey, in which he played the role of a cricketer. The original film was made in Telugu and it starred Nani in the lead role. He will also star in a film with Pooja Hegde, titled Deva.
After flexing those unnaturally large muscles (and pout) in Neal 'n' Nikki, wrecking his best friend's wedding in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi and posing as a tapori sidekick to Abhishek Bachchan in Dhoom capers, Uday Chopra is now trying his hand at a quintessential geek in love with the hottest girl ever in director Jugal Hansraj's Pyaar Impossible.
Like Salman Khan, he too has been bitten by the writing bug, and has scripted the tried and tested plot of this rom-com. While Priyanka Chopra provides the starry attraction, the latest Yashraj offering boasts of music from its current favourites Salim-Sulaiman.
Seriously, you might lose your mind trying to remember where you've heard it all before. And then like an idea it strikes, 'Like in a hundred of those fun but forgettable Hollywood campus capers.' From U2, Britney Spears, Shania Twain to Green Day, B*witched and Hilary Duff, the influences are far too obvious and many. Safe to conclude: originality impossible.
Anushka Manchanda opens the album with her cat-on-the-prowl huskiness and Salim Merchant's smooth rendition of Alisha. What would make a great drive song is mostly a snazzy denial negating any possibility of a romantic relationship between the unlikely duo in the near future. The audience, of course, is wise enough to know better. Also aiming to make its presence felt is a nifty remix by Abhijit Vaghani.
Up next follows the effervescent and guitar-friendly title song. For all its likeness to Six Pence None The Richer's hit single, Kiss me, Pyaar Impossible works owing to the ravishing chemistry between Dominique Cerejo and Vishal Dadlani's minty-fresh vocals and Salim-Sulaiman's easy-going arrangement. If this catches your fancy, so will Vaghani's techno-mix of the same.
You and Me opens pretty much like Victoria Beckham's I wish. Again here, Neha Bhasin and Benny Dayal negotiate what Dominque and Vishal established not even a moment ago, the 'pyaar impossible' bit. Only this R& B meets rap sounds a lot more monotonous and meh.
'Chocolate boxes, man on horses. Valentine's day. Party's on Saturday. Mahua Kamat, Anushka Manchanda and Naresh Kamath dole out their own version of a High School Musical with 10 on 10, a number specially designed to highlight the full-marks stature of our leggy leading lady. That explains gibberish like 'Mere jaisa koi kahan. Ten on ten.'
Tossed about in a cheerleader's slogan template, Ek thi ladki unravels the gist of Pyaar Impossible's storyline with an overbearing chorus going badaboombadaboom and oopsiedoodeedoo to contend with about how a goofy geek fell head over heels over the alluring Alisha. If a song had a colour, this would be the mushiest shade of pink. It has Barbie and bubblegum written all over it.
