Because the early years of a researcher’s career are a critical time, the relatively unrestricted
funds and mentoring this fellowship provides help recipients navigate this period with independence, flexibility, and a built-in support network.
The
Early
Career Research Fellowship’s Community Track narrows the focus of the fellowship to support research most directly aligned with the Gulf Research
Program’s Health and Community Resilience portfolio.
For the 2026 application cycle, the Community Track focuses on
climate risk, health, and decision making, with the goal of advancing understanding of how climate-related stressors affect human health, community resilience, and regional economies, and supporting applied research that connects climate
science to local decision-making and public health interventions.
Applications will be accepted from
February 4 - March 25, 2026. If you have questions about this fellowship opportunity, please email
