Call to Action: Consensus Statement between Civil Organizations on the Matai'an Landslide Lake Disaster

Dear Risk & Disaster TIG,

I recently came across a consensus statement by an alliance of Independent Civil Organizations on the Matai'an Landslide Lake Disaster, happened in Taiwan on 23 September 2025.

They are currently requesting support and endorsement from the public in order to ensure that "the planning and resource allocation for mid- to long- term reconstruction must be grounded in the participation and decision-making of local community organizations and Indigenous tribes."

As this initiative is a bottom up effort in response to emergency events and disasters and seeks to apply anthropological and social understanding about recovery into practices, I translated texts from Traditional Chinese into English for international supports.

One of the attached documents, Consensus_Statement_between_Civil_Organizations_ on_the_Matai'an_Landslide_Lake_Disaster, is the Consensus Statement between Civil Organizations on the Matai'an Landslide Lake Disaster in both Traditional Chinese and English. In the last two pages of this PDF, two screenshots of the endorsement google form are available where English translation is added, just in case people who are not the Traditional Chinese native speakers but proficient in English would like to endorse.
