Michael M. Cernea Travel Award for
Applied Research on Forced Displacement and Involuntary Resettlement
Description: The Michael Cernea fund offers a $750 travel award to a student interested in applied research focused on forced displacement and involuntary resettlement to attend the SfAA Annual Meeting. This award encourages justice-focused approaches to resettlement that actively involve displaced populations, including in the context of development projects and processes such as gentrification and climate-related hazards and disasters, fostering a deeper understanding of the complexities and impacts of resettlement.
Eligibility: One $750 award is available to students who meet the following criteria:
The award helps support travel expenses to attend the SfAA Annual Meeting.
Application: Submit a one-page statement on the global implications of displacement and involuntary resettlement resulting from development projects and processes and/or climate-related hazards and disasters, including highlighting a focus on your work and planned paper to present.
