Hi everyone,

I wanted to share with you that I am currently working on a proposal for an Anthropological Film Topical Interest Group (AF-TIG). The aim of this TIG is to create a space that connects anthropologists, social scientists, and filmmakers interested in film as both a method and an output of research and professional practice.

I wanted to share this with you in case some of you are working with film or interested in the topic. We are currently in the proposal stage and gauging interest in the topic. As part of the proposal, we need to bring together a list members/co-signers. If you are interested in this, please get back to me.

There is no commitment required beyond indicating your support by co-signing. If the proposal is approved by the SfAA Board of Directors, we will follow up with a formal invitation to join the TIG and provide further details about what participation will involve.

If you know of others who may be interested, please feel free to let me know so I can extend the invitation further.

Best wishes,

Hedda

Dear Hedda (and all)

Glad to hear about this initiative.  Please count me in!  I am one of those who has long been interested in working within visual anthropology, including film.  And while I haven't gotten very far in terms of many actual outputs, "hope spring eternal!"
