Postdoctoral Fellow - HUMAN-ANIMAL INTERACTIONS IN DISASTER SETTINGS
A postdoctoral fellow (PDF) position is available in the BaCoR lab (Building a Culture of Resilience) led by Dr. Haorui Wu, Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Disaster and Resilience, within the School of Social Work, Faculty of Health, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The PDF will support various research projects examining human-animal interactions in disaster settings across Canada and internationally, such as (1) veterinary professionals’ involvement in disaster response; (2) human-animal bonds in rural communities; (3) animal-inclusive disaster preparedness; and (4) animal-friendly infrastructure, One Health, and One Welfare. Job responsibilities include qualitative and quantitative research design, implementation, data analysis, and publication. Depending on qualifications, research activities may include co-developing research proposals, engaging with stakeholders, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, drafting policy briefs and publications, and co-supervising undergraduate and graduate students, among other tasks.

Start date: The start date is flexible (anticipated April 1, 2026).

Duration of appointment: The initial appointment will be one year, with the possibility of renewal for a
second-year contingent on funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Deadline for application: Review of applications is on an ongoing basis, and applications will be accepted
until March 31, 2026.
