APAX along with IMPACT AAPI is bringing performer and writer Kristina
Wong to De Anza on Wednesday, April 25th, 1:30 p.m. in the Campus
Center's Conference Rooms A & B to present excerpts of her play,
"Wong Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Her solo performance work address
the high incidents of depression and suicide among young API women.

Following the performance she will join mental health professionals and
advocates from AACI, NAMI, and our own staff to discuss what we can do
about this alarming trend.

The Career Development Conference is designed to prepare students for
the next level of advancement in their career. Participants will
develop their leadership potential, learn tips for effective
communication, learn how to effectively work on teams, and identify
their positive contributions to the workplace. Job seekers, especially
students and young professionals, need an added boost to be
competitive in California's workforce. The saying, "You only get
one chance to make a good first impression" is so relevant in
today's competitive job market. Communication and Team work are two
key skills that employers look for when making a hiring decision.
The Career Development Conference begins with free lunch at noon and a
keynote presentation.

Nikkei Matsuri Presents An Evening of 'Music From The Heart'
Featuring Ayako Hosokawa
7:00-9:00pm (Doors open at 6:30pm)
San Jose Buddhist Betsuin Gymnasium
As a well known vocalist in the Bay Area Japanese American community,
Ayako shares her love of music and song with a variety of popular and
contemporary American music that she has grown to love during her
international music career. This evening, she will be
accompanied by: Shota Okabe, Bob Kenmotsu, Ken Okada and Rich
Alegria.
A portion of the concert proceeds will be donated to JCCCNC's Northern
Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. Tickets are $15 ($20 at the door) and
are available from Nikkei Traditions-San Jose Japantown, Wesley
Methodist Church, Yu Ai Kai and Nikkei Matsuri Board

heritage at this day long festival for all ages. Enjoy a full
day of authentic Japanese food, performing arts on two stages,
cultural exhibits and arts & crafts from vendors throughout the
West Coast and Hawaii. Other Activities include Japantown Farmer's
Market, Health Fair (hosted by Yu Ai Kai), Kodomo No Hi (Children's
Day at the Japanese American Museum of San Jose) and children's crafts
at Wesley Methodist Church (hosted by Suzume No Gakko).
