 The  COVID 19 pandemic is shaping the future of the healthcare sector. 36 million people are blind and 1.1 billion people live with some form of vision impairment. Almost 90% of people who are blind live in low and middle-income countries and 55% are women. Most worryingly these numbers are set to triple over the next 30 years. We know that 4 out of 5 people who are blind don’t need to be.Join us for an insightful conversation with The Fred Hollows Foundation around restoring sight and its impact. The speakers will highlight lessons learned, top priorities, and how to ensure sustainability responses & enabled actions to eliminate blindness and visual impairment.

The Fred Hollows Foundation is an international development organization working in more than 25 countries to end avoidable blindness. The Foundation has restored sight to more than 2.5 million people around the world. The Foundation’s vision is to deliver a world in which no person is needlessly blind or vision impaired.

 About the Speakers

Dr. Andrew Cassels-Brown is the Medical Director at The Fred Hollows Foundation. In his role, he is responsible for driving medical advice, research and innovation that will extend The Foundation’s impact. He brings three decades’ ophthalmic experience and a passion for community eye health and sustainability.

Dr. Yeneneh Mulugeta Deneke is the medical advisor for Africa and Middle East at The Fred Hollows Foundation. In his role, he is responsible for providing strategic leadership on medical and technical areas to ensure delivering greater impact in addressing blindness.
