ABOUT SOCIETY FOR CHILD DEVELOPMENT

We are a registered NGO with 16 years of hands on experience in
advocacy and up liftment of disabled people. Our basic aim is to
educate and train disabled people, assist them in finding their
rightful place in the society and ensure their inclusion in all
fields.

Located at New Delhi, in India, we run a special school for disabled
children in the age group of 5 to 16 years. On graduating from here
these children move to our vocational Training and Production Center
where we train disabled youth in soft vocations to enable them to earn
a living and stand on their own feet.

Besides this, we have a live in center for disabled people, a well
established parent support network and an extremely effective legal
aid cell for providing pro bono legal advice and spreading legal
awareness among the disabled people. We are actively involved in
educating the disabled community in the slums around Delhi about their
rights and privileges and helping them gain access to their rightful
dues from the society and the Government.

We have also undertaken a number of research projects on behalf of the
Government and other agencies which are working in the area of
disability.

On 3rd December 2008, The honorable Vice President conferred the
National Award for empowerment of disabled people to society for Child
Development in recognition of the outstanding contribution made by the
NGO in this field.

Encouraged by this overwhelming support and recognition we are seeking
avenues to extend the benefits of our work to a larger cross section
of the effected population.

All our projects are funded from the donations received from sponsors
and well wishers and from the money raised by marketing the items
produced at our production center. Non availability of funds is
therefore a major impediment in the fructification of our plans to
expand our well established and time tested programs and extend the
benefits of our endeavor to a larger section of the disabled
community.

1. Sponsoring the education and training of disabled children at
Prabhat (special school) @ Rs 2500 per child per month for a period of
your choosing.
2. Sponsoring the vocational training of disabled persons @ Rs 2500
person per month for a period of your choosing.
3. Sponsoring the expenditure of one severely disabled person for his
boarding lodging and training expenditure @ Rs 5500 per month per
person per month for a period of your choosing.
4. Providing mid day snacks for 100 disabled people @ Rs 1500 per day
for a period of your choosing.
5. Providing a meal to 100 disabled people @ Rs 3500 per day for a
period of your choosing.
6. Purchase of educational/ training aids worth Rs 5000 for the
special school or Vocational Training Center.
7. Providing snacks for the monthly dance magic programs for disabled
children @ Rs 1500 per program.
8. Sponsoring the annual picnic for 100 disabled people @ Rs 15000.
9. Sponsoring a training work shop for 20 parents of disabled children
@ Rs 25000.
10. Sponsoring the monthly news letter of the Parent Support Net work
@ Rs3000 per issue.
11. Purchase of raw material for vocational training of disabled
children @ Rs 5000 per month for a period of your choosing
12. Purchase of utility equipment / furniture for the live in center
for disabled people@ Rs 5000 to Rs 25000.
