i don't want to give it to on a public list beacause i don't want to compromise a poor freelancer, he's not responsible of unity crashes due to ram / hardware

if you are a member of unity team i could help you to search the cause of the bug by giving url & my config in private...
it's not my job but i've already helped them to find bugs (i'm so good guy) but i don't have time to make new tests now, i just can give the url and my config in a private mail

i dont want to give the url on a public list because

- i don't want to compromise a poor freelancer, he's not responsible of crashes due to ram/hardware
- it won't be significative because you have not the same machine and i don't think it will crash on yours

i can give it in a private mail to unity team, i've already helped them to debug their soft (it's not my job but i'm so good guy...)

You post a message stating that THE NEW unity3d game on shockwave crashed your videocard.

Sorry, but if you don't want to say what game + what videocard you have then this is very poor and I don't see reason why you posted this just to make yourself interesting

i've helped unity team in private emails

by the way i should ask WHY unity users come to a director list to promote unity?

director users don't go to unity lists to promote director, don't they? we don't need. to promote director we have guys like remus marinescu or gene endrody working on good and popular games like hopeless2 & maidmarian

if you want to promote unity, follow their example, it's the only way

i repeat, i'll work on unity when i see good games like tankball, sherwood, hopeless, etc in unity plugin

precision: what i call a good game is not a game with nice gfx and modern hardware effects
a good game is first a game with a good ram optimization, no gpu crashes, good control and good gameplay

I don't come to make publicity for unity. Maybe there is a reason I'm still on this mailing list? Maybe we are still using director ?

Its not because you're also a fan of unity that you are against director

i'm not a director fanboy, i've said many times there are problems in director too (especially awful artefacts since d11)

but i wonder what would happen if i'd write sillinesses like "director roxxx i really don't understand why you don't like it" on a unity mail list...

Never mind. You make it sound as if I'm against director which is certainly not the case.
I just wonder why you post "the new game on shockwave" and whenever somebody asks the url you don't want to say it.

Anyway, I didn't mean to offend in any way.

I like both Director and Unity for different reasons

It would be nice, if next thing on your list would be to quote more
carefully, when reply to mails.

So... did a URL or even a name of the Unity game on Shockwave ever come out?

I'd like to see it, regardless of whether there are bugs or not in the Unity engine, since we're keeping an eye on Unity. Seeing "real" instances of released items, out in the wild, helps with that.

i said dont want to give the url on a public list because

1/ i don't want to compromise a poor freelancer, he's not responsible of crashes due to ram/hardware

2/ it won't be significative because you have not the same machine and i don't think it will crash on yours
(and unity defenders will reply that's because your machine is shit and blah blah blah... sorry but i have a good machine)

but, so, okay, you ask it with insistance, so i'll compromise the poor freelancer, and so you'll reply "that's because your machine is shit unity roxxx and blah blah blah"...

enjoy

It was playable on a intel GMA integrated card, so I think at home it'll run very nicely on a geforce card.

Honestly I wonder why you would compromise a poor freelancer. I don't see whats poor about this game. It gets 4 out of 5 stars at shockwave.

Maybe its not your personal taste.

I can also see why it might perform poor on your machine. On some cards (and certainly on integrated cards) the framerate drops significantly if you have a lot of drawcalls/objects. Geforce cards and radeons don't have that problem very much.

The gold program has grass and if you look in a direction without grass and mills, I get superfluent framerates even on the poor integrated intel card here, but if you look in the direction of the hills and mills, then indeed you see that its slower. Thats actually quite normal and shockwave will also to this. Also, if your card doesn't handle the transforms and textures nicely (which most integrated gfx certainly do) then the CPU is going to have to do it an that does indeed slow down a lot and eat ram.

Its far better is the 3dcard can offload the work on the 3dcard instead of the cpu, but thats not a problem because of unity of shockwave or any other tool. Its your card.

Makes me wonder, what card do you actually have and what shader model does it support? The golf demo looks like it is using pixel lights instead of vertex lights and I didn't look if it has shadows enabled, but if so that also slows down drastically.

Unity isn't bad, but you can make it look very bad very easily :) Just put everything to maximum quality settings and everybody will complain, so I cannot tell what quality settings this developer uses.

In any way, the game doesn't look that bad

Regards,

Bart

Agreed. Lets indeed not fight for who is the best and who is not.
Every engine has its advantages over the other.

Friends? :-)

well the fight between adobe & unity should stay between adobe & unity

we're not their soldiers we're just poor civilians victims of the great economic war

so i don't wanna fight unity users, i talk about bugs of unity AND director
i think both technologies have very bad points
