I hate the TARGET software for so many reasons... I've spent 7 hours straight trying to find another piece of software that I can use instead. Then I remembered how much I liked using Joy to Key back in the day. So I fired it up... but the crucial function I need to map for my Warthog's 3-way switches is the "button release" function. Much to my surprised I couldn't find a way to set a "on button release" function.
While I can't figure out how to CLEAR an entry for a button, SVMapper is going to work for me! I'm able to map all my presses and releases! So strange that a near-perfect piece of software would be hindered by the fact that you can't clear an input!!
Fwiw I can confirm that xpadder now supports actions on "button up", at least in the current version (from May 2017 I believe). It's a bit tricky to find, somewhere under the "advanced" section of a button assignment, but it's working well. I used this to simulate a keyboard key press for each neutral position of the warthogs throttle switches, so I can easily map them in DCS without ever installing TARGET.

I went to reconfigure my neo-geo emulator in the xpadder plugin and when choosing a specific game instead of the names provided in the .map list I made are the names of the files.
I honestly don't remember. Was it always like this? Yeah and I don't think so.
One last detail that concerns the xpadder in gameex. I realized that during the use of gameex the settings made in the xpadder plugin were lost. Being necessary to open the plugin again and go through that configuration to choose the configured controls. Remembering head on. During all this time using gameex, I could count about 6 times that I had to reconfigure the plugins part related to xpadder. I can only guess that something must happen when installing a new version of gameex (although I paid attention today with this latest update and nothing happened).
Can anyone tell me if this happens to anyone else?
(it was not resolved. But it was explained why the phenomenon that I reported happened. Although if I could vote I would opt for an update)
.................................................. .................................................. ...........
As I noted, this is the first I have heard of this happening. If you are using the Xpadder plugin, it has not been updated in quite a while and the author has not been regular on the forums in quite a while.
I now entered the xpadder plugin and tried to activate the automatic backup option. however an error happens is the gameex program asks if I want to end the program or continue. that is, the automatic backup option is not available to me. And that has always been the case. Is this a common error for you too ???
Just started using joy2key to get joystick support with Pac-Man Championship DX+ and it seems to work great. I know lots of people recommend xpadder, but there was no way for me to download/try it before committing money and his web from used to initiate a purchase was very slow to send an email. I eventually got it but it took hours.
I have 2 arcade sticks (connect via USB) that show up as Windows controllers (I believe they say G-Wiz). I also use a USB to 4-port Gamecube adapter with controllers for Nintendo games. I'd love to add light guns in the near future after I get everything else working well.
XPadder does not offer a free trial as far as I know, but there is an older, now freeware version (XPadder Version 5.3) on the internet which I've used and which would give you an idea of it's capabilities.
If you are prepared to pay for this type of software, then you might also like to check out Pinnacle Game Profiler which does offer a free uncrippled trial period.
I've used all of them mentioned in this thread, and they are all comparable in terms of functionality, at least they were. I think xpadder is the most intuitive, but probably you should stick with what you're using now and don't worry about switching until you run into a particular issue.

I tried xpadder and while it's interface is really nice, especially with controller images,....it was very finnicky about auto-loading profiles, and I could never get it to work with rocketlauncher for keymapping specific games within the database. Joy2Key ended up working perfectly with rocketlauncher, so that's the one I use now. It's simple and straightforward and has most of the features you would ever need.
Hmm i've never had trouble with which buttons do what. Usually when you press a button on a controller it will highlight which controller it is on the tab. If you have a lot then be sure to set the max controllers to a higher number and then refresh, there will be a bunch of tabs then. Should highlight with a color when you hit a button, then you just go to that tab and set all the buttons.
I've used Joy2Key, Xpadder, Pinnacle Game Profiler, Controller Companion, and a few others, and I find Controller Companion to be the best mapper overall. However my LaunchBox setup relies on RocketLauncher for everything, and I use Joy2Key for mapping the guide button to RL's Pause menu, and it works great. Xpadder didn't work with the Xbox Guide button, I'm not sure if that has changed. I've never had issues with Joy2Key, it's extremely stable.
Since we're steering from the original topic just a bit, I do want to point out that in terms of featutes, the steam controller configuration is number one. It even comes with fully customizable radial menus, does like five different button activation methods (short and long pull, double tap) etc. It's incredible. It's comes with a price. As of right now it means that steam will have to be running at all times, and it tends to take over stuff you don't want it to.

They fixed the functionality that let's you turn it off for specific library items, so you don't have to kill it anymore to launch bigbox. Having said that, it may occasionally revert back to desktop configuration depending on what you launch with bigbox... so.... will you share the script?

Here's the script, it has kill commands for other programs in my system like RocketLauncher, and various emulators. You can edit the cmd file and add or remove any programs you want, the commands look like this:
DetectHiddenWindows On
DetectHiddenText On
SetTitleMatchMode 2
^!a::
Loop
IfWinActive, MPCSTAR
Run, D:\Xpadder\MPCstar.xpadderprofile
IfWinActive, ahk_class MozillaWindowClass
Run, D:\Xpadder\Firefox.xpadderprofile

INTRODUCTION:
Hello, and welcome to my guide on how to use an Xbox 360 controller for DayZ.
I have put a lot of time into making this profile, and hope that other people can find this useful.
Highlights of my Xpadder profile are:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Original thread on Xpadder.
This profile works fine using default controls with minor tweaking; if you're having issues, go into the control settings and reset to defaults.
Xpadder has to be run with Administrator privilege to work with ArmA 2.
Make sure controller support is disabled within ArmA 2.
Sprinting will not work until "Fast forward" remapped to Up Arrow.
Aircraft will not work properly, you will need to remap flying controls within the game to what is shown below.
Well I gave it a test run last night and so far it works really well! I did some minor tweaking to the profile like adding an auto-run and changing sprint to double tapping up on the left stick. I'm not sure if it's a bug or not, but I've found that when I was using the head look button too frequently that it would stay locked on. The work around to this is just to double tap the button and it would snap back to normal. Overall this is a great tutorial, I really like how easy it is to set up. Great job InTheCatBoxAgain!
By auto-run I mean that I can have my character run or sprint forward without having to hold down any buttons. I find it really helpful when I'm running for a long distance. In xpadder I changed the right button on the d-pad to "W" and added the toggle function on it to make this happen. Then I moved whatever key that was originally on the right d-pad (I believe it was the compass key) over to holding the left d-pad for 3 seconds.
I have xpadder 5.6 and the file wont load with it - it was free a few years ago when I got it and really it should be free to anyone who is disabled and needs this to game so is there a newer version thats free that will work with this file?
With the Thief series the slow pace make them perfect games to play on the big screen with a controller, However TDM has a lot of keys to set up (like the original Thief) so mapping all the keys to a controller is a challenge and requires some compromises to be made.
I've been playing with a Xbox360 controller for a while now, and think I have a good setup for TDM, with all or most of the functions mapped. For those interested, I thought I'd share it here, and ask for any input you guys have on what could be improved.
EDIT: Changed LB to Run, while Set 2 LB has Creep - figured after playing some more that Run+Jump needs to be possible and Creep is very rarely needed. There certainly are some missions where running jump is a necessity at some places.
