Namaskar everyone,

Here is more comprehensive document that contains the S17 Occupy Public Network Producers guidelines and links to three (3) rosters.

There is still slots available if you want to have your program. You can have participants be on your segment via skype.

Here are the three (3) rosters type:

1 - The program roster where you can choose a time to have your segment

2- Crew roster - where you can write your name and the time you are planning to volunteer

3- Livestreamers Roster - where livestreamers can plug in their urls, locations and hours they plan to cover that day

Note: We are still awaiting to have a 30secons PSA to announce this historic event at the station. We also want another that we can air during the occupation of the station. This other  PSA can be more than 30seconds.

We have 15 skype names to accommodate the number of participants we will have that day. We will have two Studio Sets to our usage. Each Studio's Control Room will have 5 laptops streaming live content we can cut to and or skype users on it.

Note: We are still looking for laptops we can use S17. Currently we only have two (2) laptops out of 10 we need. Let us know if you have a mac that we can borrow for S17.

If you want to be part of the program read who we are and see if you can be a part of us:

1) The show-content is 58 minutes long. Segments’ length can vary depending on the relevance of a particular piece of a particular issue on a particular week.
2) The deadline to submit content is Monday at 11am Eastern Time.
3) There will be two gender-balanced anchors per show, and each of four pairs of anchors will rotate.

Listed below are the program’s segments. Its model is based on that of “Democracy Now”.

1-         HOST INTRO (1-2 min.): Host introduces the stories of the program.

2-          REPORT BACK (20-30 min.): Several reports of nationwide events will be given with in-depth explanation of the reasons for such events - the contextualized video clips are coming from the cities where the events take place.

3-          INTERVIEW  (8-20 min.): Interview of one or more persons to discuss #OWS events, past, present, or future issues surrounding policies, enactment of laws, political advocacy, police involvement, financial institutions, etc. It may be conducted in studio, pre-recorded, or via phone/Skype.

4-          COMMUNITY SUPPORT (2-4 min.): Tells the story of someone who is not directly involved with the movement, but who does things in support of the movement. (For example, a deli owner donates food, or a farmer saves heirloom seeds for future generations to plant them.) These are the people who speak through action, and who support the movement wholeheartedly from that perspective.

5-         INTERNATIONAL NEWS (1-3 min.): A run down of news stories documenting and analyzing the events of #OWS from around the globe. Contextualized videos will be created and provided by locals in the country and city of origin.

6-         COMPARISON OF MSM COVERAGE WITH #OWS EVENTS: “WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?” (2-4 min.): expose how MSM manipulates the presentation of information to influence people’s opinions.

7-         ANNOUNCEMENTS/UPCOMING EVENTS (2-5 min.): Nationwide “occupy” cities can send us their upcoming events to be announced at the end of the show.

8-         OUTRO (30 sec.): Goodbye and thank you for watching.

The objective of the news program is to expose the government, corporations, politicians and influential individuals that are responsible for the current global economic and environmental crises, by giving a voice to those who would otherwise not be heard. We offer the oppressed an instrument of free speech.

As producers, we must be willing to discern MSM’s universal voice from our own voice. Only in this way can the decision making process be completely democratic. But, keeping in mind that democracy itself is not completely free. A democracy is made possible by virtue of a specific structure. Its structure is not to be threatened, but defended in its entirety.

This program represents the national presence of the #OWS movement. Therefore, it must be just, promoting social diversity, and representative of all in society in order to meet the demands of informing the public in order to counter the subjective bias of mainstream media [MSM].

But, as time passes and the movement develops, the MSM’s portrayal of our actions will continue to remain an opposing force, against which strategic decisions are called for. This program is not only responsible for being in communication with and supporting the 99%, but is also responsible for exposing the power elite’s actions and the actions of those who operate under their interest of unjust and undemocratic practices. This constitutes the greatest challenge to our effort. We will have to share our own analysis of events. Although, this requires the strength of a public network that is willing to be open-minded and cognizant of the differences we all are endowed with, which can be a greatest strength as well as a greatest weakness.

Our goal as producers is to present each report with a comprehensive view of our stated aims to be just and equitable. contextualized politically. This means that in addition to providing a basic narrative that speaks only to the literal visual content of a video clip, the many motivations why such events are taking place must also be well stated. Take for example the format of a “Democracy Now” program. What makes the reporting relevant is a qualified approach to otherwise censored material by the MSM.
