Job Title: Azure Cloud Data Engineer

Location: Chicago (Onsite– Local Candidates only)

Job Type: Contract

Experience Level: 2–5 Years

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Azure Cloud Data Engineer for a contract role based in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, building scalable data pipelines, managing cloud-native services, and supporting event-driven architectures.

Local candidates are highly preferred due to potential onsite collaboration requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure services.
Implement and manage containerized applications using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Build real-time data streaming solutions using Azure Event Hub.
Develop serverless applications using Azure Function Apps.
Manage and optimize storage solutions including:
Azure Blob Storage
Azure Data Lake Storage
Work with Azure Cosmos DB for NoSQL database implementations.
Develop and maintain big data processing workflows using Azure Databricks.
Implement secure cloud practices using Azure Key Vault for secrets and credential management.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud-based applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, application development, and business stakeholders.
Follow ITSM processes and handle incident/change management using ServiceNow (good to have).
Ensure compliance with security and data governance standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

2–5 years of hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure.
Strong understanding of:
Cloud-native architecture
Event-driven systems
Data engineering best practices
Experience with containerization and orchestration (AKS).
Experience building serverless solutions using Azure Functions.
Proficiency with:
Azure Event Hub
Azure Data Lake
Azure Blob Storage
Azure Cosmos DB
Azure Databricks
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

Experience with ServiceNow (ITSM tool).
Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Certification in Microsoft Azure (AZ-900, AZ-204, AZ-305, etc.).
