Dear all,
the 7th DIRAC User Workshop will take place May 29th-31st in Warsaw, Poland.

A preliminary agenda will be set up in https://indico.cern.ch/event/609507/. The registration will open soon. Participation to the workshop could not be, as for previous years, free of charge: a small participation fee of 35 EUR will be requested.

The workshop will be devoted to information exchange between DIRAC developers, service administrators and users. New users, as well as experienced administrators and developers are welcome in the workshop.

As for previous years, communities will be asked to report about their use of DIRAC. Tutorials on administration and development, as well as a public hacking session will be part of the program.

As always, we encourage everybody to suggest items to the workshop agenda.

Best regards,
Federico Stagni

You lucky b! I'd love to attend but there aren't any funds here to travel :P Our budget is a bit tight. In any case, enjoy a vodka round for me.

Good luck!

Dear all,
if you will be attending the "operation hackathon" sessions you will need a running Virtual Machine. We highly suggest you to:

- install virtualbox: https://www.virtualbox.org/
- use it for booting a Scientific Linux 6 machine (specifically the SLC6 flavour)
  here are the instructions: http://linux.web.cern.ch/linux/scientific6/docs/install.shtml
- To have the guest accessible from the host, you need a host-only adapter. You can easily google it, anyway this guide seems ok: https://2buntu.com/articles/1513/accessing-your-virtualbox-guest-from-your-host-os/

If you have an "equivalent" solution already accessible from your laptop, then it's probably enough.

Cheers,
Federico

Dear all,
this email serves the double purpose of:
-) last reminder about the 7th DIRAC Users' Workshop.
-) update of information regarding the participation the DUW
so please read carefully until the end.

There will be time to register until few days into the event, but if you intend to come and didn't yet register, please do it at your earliest convenience.

I have updated the agenda of the workshop, which can be found at https://indico.cern.ch/event/609507/timetable/#all. I added details about speakers and their contributions: most of them are confirmed. The agenda may still change slightly in the coming days, without revolutions.

As announced, this year there will be several "hackathons", running in 2 parallel sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday ("dev" and "ops" types). These hands-on sessions will guide you through several aspects about administrating or developing DIRAC. Please come with your work laptop. You'll probably need to work with an OS image, so it'd be a good idea to have pre-installed a hypervisor (like Virtualbox) and/or Docker. Images of Scientific Linux 6 or CERN CentOS 7 or some of their "equivalent" should be also downloaded in advance.

As per previous years, the workshop is an occasion for information exchange between all DIRAC present users, and for detailed presentation of DIRAC for future users. We will keep an informal tone as per previous years.

Best regards,
Federico

For this year we also made the flyer attached: we would be grateful if you could print a copy or 2 and attach them where convenient in your institute.

If you have not yet done so, please register for the workshop at your earliest convenience, it only takes a minute: https://indico.cern.ch/event/609507/registrations/

Dear all,
I have just opened the registrations to the workshop, please do it at your earliest convenience, it only takes a minute: https://indico.cern.ch/event/609507/registrations/

We decided to increase the participation fee to 60 EUR to give you a better service. The fee will be paid directly at the workshop venue, at the start of the workshop itself.

You are welcome to spread the news about the workshop to whoever you want, and to suggest items for the agenda.

Best regards,
