Dear DIRAC Users and Developers,

I am currently setting up DIRAC 26.0 on an Ubuntu workstation and would appreciate some guidance regarding several failures encountered while running the test suite.

I followed the general procedure:

./setup
cd build
 make

The build completed sufficiently for me to run the CTest suite. However, when I ran the tests, several tests failed. I have attached a screenshot of the CTest summary showing the complete list of failed tests.

I would be grateful if someone could advise me on how to diagnose these failures and whether they indicate a problem with my DIRAC installation/build configuration or whether some of these tests can fail under particular configurations. can I run DIRAC job even after these failures?

I am relatively new to DIRAC and would greatly appreciate any guidance on how to proceed.

Thank you very much for your time and help.

Best regards,
Himangshu Das

Dear Himangshu,

The first thing to check is the output from the test. You find that at the location indicated at the end of your testrun. In there you can see whether all tests fail with a similar error message or whether there are multiple problems. Looking at the failing tests I suppose the problem may be in the hdf5 handling.

Did you install hdf5 on your machine ? If not, DIRAC uses a fallback that does not support all functionality. In particular the visualisation possibilities will be limited.

If this is the problem, than simply install hdf5 on your Ubuntu system, you will easily find install instructions on the web.

good luck,

Luuk
