So I'll try again, I have Windows 8.1 and I want to use only my NetGear A6100 NIC to handle the wireless in Windows, so can I disable the WLAN service that comes with Windows 8.1 and just use the Genie version of the drivers/firmware I downloaded from netgear.com or do I need both the Windows WLAN service to be turned on plus have the Genie in order to properly use my NetGear NIC?

I have a Netgear DGND3700v2. I wanted to check to see if I had the latest firmware. I used Netgear genie. On the home page WiFi Connection it says Not Connected. On the router settings using the default name and password it will not login. The internet page shows I am connected from the pc thru the router to the internet and am getting download and upload. I have two pc's connected to the router via eathernet cables. My pc can stream video from the pc to my tv so the WiFi must be working. Any suggestions of why the Network genie can't see tthe connection and will not let me login to the router. Thanks for the help.

It will not log in ny putting the ip addres in the browser. The netgear genie will shows that data is passing thru the router and to the internet. The router settings page has the Router Login widow butafter trying to make a connection it says Netgear router is not found ot is not supported. Also as I said before I am actually getting to the internet. Downloading, uploading and all other functions are working normally. It's just that I can't access the router to make changes or check how it is setup.

The genie is a valuable addition to the toolkit that does things that are more complicated, or even impossible, with the browser graphical user interface (GUI). (Try creating a "map" of your powerline devices in the GUI.) It is a shame that Netgear tries to force us all to use its hopeless mobile apps.

I am using the N300 Wifi Range Extender, Model EX2700. I set up this range extender months ago and for some reason, now it won't stop directly taking me to the NETGEAR genie Smart Setup. I tried resetting the extender to its factory settings and setting it up again twice and there was no difference. It happens when I load up my internet browser, as well as when I open a new tab. Can someone please help me?

I found the problem and was able to fix it! The problem was that I had an extension for Google Chrome that automatically directs me to a website just like the NETGEAR genie does. Simply disabling the extension fixed the problem, but that also means that whenever I tried to enable the extension, the genie comes back. I don't really don't know exactly why it was the extension that was the problem, but at least its not a problem anymore. I hope this helps anyone who has a similar problem. Oh, and the extension is called 'Tab for a Cause'. Its actually a really cool extension and I highly recommend it but if you get this problem when using it, now you know why. Thank you to everyone who tried to help and I hope you have a wonderful day!
