The step does not delete data. It does not even show any message why the data is not deleted. Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > scroll to and tap WhatsApp Messenger > Delete Data THIS DOES NOT WORK.

Yes that is on the way also but the reported issue is primarily with iOS, as I need to free iOS space and that shortcut does not work anymore. By selecting "Delete" WhatsApp data on iCloud menu, nothing happens, and this is iOS related, not inside WhatsApp app. WhatsApp support didn't help previously with iOS and WhatsApp related issue, that is why I am posting also here.

I opened iCloud on my iPad and deleted iCloud Whatsapp file via my iPad! It was looking good already before proceeding as on my iPad WhatsApp file size was shown, while no size was shown on the iPhone.

iOS is not able to deal with WhatsApp backup on iCloud, therefore the operation has to be done via other devices or via the Mac. Just for everybody info, my iOS 17.2.1. Hopefully Apple team will be able to fix this in the future, also because WhatsApp is used by many Apple users.

Actually, the same issue happen, and it is even worse, by selecting WhatsApp ON among App data do be back-up on the iPhone backup, as this file is increasing iCloud iPhone backup even if data is deleted on WhatsApp App.

To delete the WhatsApp data from Cloud, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > scroll to and tap WhatsApp Messenger > Delete Data. Keep in mind, this process will completely delete the WhatsApp iCloud data.

Successful : I have used my mac to delete whats app data. in MAC>system services>your name>icliud>manage>whatsapp> delete> delete permanently. VOILA everything gone and now my iphone is able to back up on icloud still using my default 5GB space

I'm trying to come up with the best replacement for blackberry messenger and from all my research, whatsapp looks like the best option. I downloaded it and I love the setup. That said, I'm having a hard time staying "connected". If I keep the app open all the time, it's fine, but when I leave it for even a few minutes - check email, surf the web, etc - it disconnects. It immediately reconnects when I pull the app up again, but in the meantime, I've been disconnected.

Thanks, I saw that and it was somewhat helpful for my home wireless issue (i.e. perhaps explains why it doesn't stay connected) but I'm still trying to figure out the issue on Verizon network. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone using whatsapp and satying connected at all times?
