[NEWS UPDATE ~ Diocese of Sandakan] St Mary's Cathedral Promotes Catholic Mission Schools

Sandakan : St Mary's Cathedral Parish through the concerted effort and collaboration of all its School Boards of Governors of the five Catholic Mission Schools in Sandakan held a campaign to promote its schools on Saturday, 29th August.

The five schools, viz; SK St Mary's Town, SK St Mary's Convent, SK St Mary's Labuk, SMK St Mary and SMK Konven St Cecilia set up exhibition booths at St Mary's Exhibition Gallery, in front of the Parish Hall.

The exhibition was graced by Rt Rev Julius Dusin Gitom, the Bishop of Sandakan before Sunset Mass. In attendance were the Chairpersons and members of the SBOGs, the School Heads and Catholic teachers, Chairman and members of the Parish Pastoral Council, Deacon Stanley, religious and parishioners.

Bishop Julius extended his warm welcome to all the School Heads and Catholic teachers to the occasion. In his opening remark, he said that it is the responsibility of all parishioners to give their support to the five Catholic Mission schools in the Cathedral Parish.

The prelate went on to say, 'I hope this exhibition, the initiative of the SBOGs together with the school authorities is a way forward to promote all our mission schools. May this exhibition inspire us to lend our support to the schools.'

The presence of Catholic students and teachers will give our Mission Schools, the Catholic identity and character.  As such, Catholic parents are encouraged to register their children in any one of the Catholic Mission schools in the parish.
