Earth Day at Flax Bourton Church
We are getting ready to celebrate Earth Day in style, with a great community event at the church on Saturday 25th April, from 10am to 4pm—and everyone is invited!
This year’s celebration promises something for all ages, from the inspiring ‘Flourish’ Art Exhibition by six North Somerset artists, to hands-on eco activities and local stalls. With your support a highlight of the day will be the “A Favourite Bird” community exhibition, showcasing creative entries from local residents—ranging from paintings and photographs to poems and models. It’s a wonderful chance to see the village’s creativity take flight!
Visitors can also enjoy a lively mix of activities including willow weaving demonstrations, a book, seed and plant exchange, and eco-info displays on topics like butterflies, swifts, and sustainable fashion. Why not bring along an old t-shirt and give it a new lease of life with professional illustrator Milton Cordoba. Local traders will be on hand with honey, plants, crafts, and more, whilst delicious homemade refreshments will be available at the Relax@Flax Café.
And don’t miss one of the most fun, family-friendly activities of the day—a bug hunt! Grab a magnifying glass and explore the hidden world of minibeasts in the churchyard. It’s a great way for children (and curious adults!) to connect with nature and discover the small creatures that play a big role in our ecosystem.
With live entertainment from The Barberettes acapella group at 11am, a raffle, and plenty to see and do, this free event is a fantastic opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate the natural world, and maybe even learn something new.
Come along, get involved, and make this Earth Day one to remember! 🌍🐝
