To make matters clear, I had a week long encounter with covid in August. Almost always when I get a viral respiratory infection the cough continues for many weeks or more as a minor but annoying bacterial infection. That made me cancel the Eurotrip because running on cough drops was not going to work on long plane flights, a talk, listening to talks, conversations, field trip etc. I was correct to cancel. Other than that and some mild fatigue for a couple of weeks after testing negative and a somewhat constrained social life from the cough I have been otherwise entirely fine and had no idea that anyone was thinking otherwise.

Thanks for the concern,

Hi, Greg.  I was happy to see that you posted to the DMG today.  I (and probably others) was concerned when Darren Naish wrote on his blog that you missed TetZooCon because of illness, and there was no followup to that.  I'm sure missing the gathering was a disappointment to you too.

Best,

Mary

Glad to hear you are recovering. I got hit after SVP last year (coming up on the anniversary of it...), and it really knocked me back.

I took Paxlovid ASAP and it certainly did no harm (except 2 of the pills were super bitter, can still taste them) and may have kept symptoms to similar to a cold with a bit of a temperature and tested negative in about a week. So is a good idea to quickly obtain the meds and take them with a sweet liquid. I think I heard a lot of SVP attendees picked up the virus last year, hopefully will not happen this time around.
