If you're using Chromium-based Microsoft Edge, this one's for you. LastPass browser extension for Microsoft Edge without a binary component. Features dependent on a binary component, such as automatic logoff after idle and sharing of login state with other browsers, will not function.
LastPass browser extension for Opera without a binary component. Features dependent on a binary component, such as automatic logoff after idle and sharing of login state with other browsers, will not function.
Just ran the security dashboard to see old passwords, and changed one. While doing so the browser hung, and didn't appear to let me complete. Had to close the full chrome window, but when it came back up again the chrome extension couldn't be clicked, the pulldown wouldn't appear. I disabled/uninstalled the extension, reinstalled, and had the same issue. It hung as soon as it brought up the vault. I removed all history/cookies/user data in chrome, restarted, and then reinstalled the extension after reboot. Same issue - extension doesn't work, hangs!
The chrome error is "Page Unresponsive - you can wait for it to become responsive or exit the page" and lists "My LastPass Vault" in the dialog box. Chrome is latest version, 90.0.4430.212 (64-bit), on a fully patched Win10 machine (20H2, OS build 19042.985, windows update confirms fully up to date).
Our developers are aware of this issue that is affecting some users with the LastPass extension in Chrome and are investigating to resolve this issue as soon as possible. I have marked this as the Accepted Solution for now so that any new users to this thread will see this message right away.
EDIT: This issue has been resolved by our development team and an extension update has been released (v4.72.1) for the LastPass Chrome extension. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for the inconvenience.
Found a number of other posts with a similar issue. In my case, deleting all files from C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\databases\ and rebooting chrome did not resolve things. Installing the extension afterwards still showed the same problem.
Uninstalling every other extension except for the LastPass one didn't fix it either. This is getting tiresome. I see that the LastPass extension was updated on 5/20. Is there a way to revert to yesterday's?
Duplicated it on another Win10 machine in the house. It was working fine. Using the extension in chrome, I cleared local cache & logged out. I logged back in, and at that point the extension stopped working. Clicking on it again hung everything, and showed identical behavior to the first machine. Something's hosed with this extension.
Destroyed all sessions - no change. When I open Chrome from a closed state (none running in background), Chrome comes up and the lastpass extension is initially clickable. I click it, the pulldown menu shows, but as I am moving the mouse down to scroll to what you mentioned (clear local cache), it hangs and then stays dead. I can click the extension icon itself, which makes the pulldown menu go away, then at that point it's totally nonresponsive. No matter how many times I click the extension icon again, the pulldown menu doesn't show up again. Not sure whether it's a memory leak or other incompatibility with Chrome, but it's a pretty ugly problem. I've used Lastpass for quite awhile over many different machines, PC/Mac/IOS/Android, and this is the worst problem I've run into yet. As of now the extension works without issue in Firefox, so I'll swap browsers in the meantime until LastPass can diagnose whatever is going on with Chrome.
Am working on resetting chrome to see if there was anything chrome specific that could be resolved. One of machines did report that "This browser is managed by your organization", which was somewhat unexpected. The other machine didn't show that, so it didn't seem to be the key issue, but I attempted to resolve it anyway. Using google's instructions here: =en#zippy=%2Cwindows
I am a LastPass user. I've just installed 1Password so that I can evaluate it before deleting my LastPass account. I've added the 1Password extension to google chrome so now I have both the LastPass and 1Password extensions installed. Now when I log into a website, it still allows me to fill id/password using LastPass. Is there something additional I need to do enable 1Password to fill in login fields?
Wow! Thanks again. I removed the Lastpass and am able to use the 1Password extension. fyi... I am also able to have BOTH extensions install and select which either Lastpass or 1Password prefill data. They work a little differently. Lastpass adds an icon on the screen by the fields that you can prefill. For 1Password, you select the browser extension icon on the toolbar to prefill fields.
I am not familiar with Lastpass, but from what you are saying, our 1Password X browser extension might behave in a more similar way to what you are used to. You can download it from here, and here is some more information about it:
The binary version of the extension won't transfer across Chrome Sync so I have to explicitly install it across both machines. The first time I install it on both machines it works just fine and will auto-fill my htauth logins. However, the first Chrome start-up after doesn't load the binary version and won't log into my htauth logins, and THEN brings up the dialogue to install the binary version.
I have already tried to contact LastPass about this, but they feign ignorance on it working across Chrome sync only saying that it doesn't sync the extension across Chrome sync. This is fine for me since I'll just set it up on both machines, but it seems to be syncing the non-binary version (which isn't installed).
I am new to LastPass and I was shocked when I realised that, once I logged in to LastPass browser extension, I could open my vault and view all the passwords even after I had exited my browser and reopened it.
You need to edit your Lastpass preferences. In Firefox, if I click on the icon for the Lastpass extension and go to Preferences, I can check "Automatically Log out when all browsers are closed", and/or "Automatically Log out after idle (mins)". You can also enable the password reprompt as suggested by other answers.
The LastPass broswer extension allows you to access the entire vault without entering a master password! The only option is to then lock your computer if you get up in a public space.
I installed chrome locally, I am trying to deploy the extension via GPO. What I want is when a new machine is started, the GPO will be enabled. This is a VDI deployment and I have lastpass working with IE, just can't get it to autoenable in chrome.
Bit warden is currently missing a rare opportunity. LastPass users are currently dissatisfied that on March 1st 2021 they will be subjected to charging when using lastpass on more than one device type, eg mobile and laptop browser.
So we are looking around for a change which is how I found Bit warden.
Yes, you can download and install the LastPass extension for Chrome with a free account. Remember that a free account lets you set up LastPass on only one device, though. You will need a premium subscription for multi-device support, starting at $3 per month.
The LastPass extension may not be showing in Chrome because it is not enabled, or it may be hidden behind the address bar. To enable the extension, go to chrome://extensions and make sure that LastPass is listed and enabled. To reveal hidden extensions, place your mouse at the end of the address bar until the cursor turns into a double-sided arrow. Then, drag the address bar to the left to reveal more extensions.
To add the LastPass extension to Google Chrome, download and install the LastPass web extension from the Chrome Web Store. Click the LastPass icon in the extensions bar towards the top right corner of the browser and sign in with your LastPass account to get started.
After creating a new account, LastPass should automatically detect which browser you are using. It will recommend installing the related browser plug-in and show you the correct page. If you missed this step and or setting up LastPass on Chrome for the first time, you can download the web extension from the Chrome web store here.
Tap the Add to Chrome button and select Add extension in the pop-up message. Click the LastPass icon in your extensions bar (towards the top right corner of the browser) and sign in to your account with your email address and master password.
Lastpass has a 'vault' that is a management UI for managing passwords and other items they maintain. As long as MalwareBytes Premium is running, anything that this page does that would pop up a dialog is blocked. And further, MalwareBytes BrowserGuard UI for "current website" is stuck on loading. If I disable all of the MB Real-Time protection, this functionality is still blocked. But if I exit MB completely, then I can actually use the UI.
Please note that I have to quit MalwareBytes itself. I can turn on/off MalwareBytes Browser Guard and I still cannot view lastpass pop up dialogs.
