Only if your appearance has significantly changed from what is in your current passport. Growing a beard or coloring your hair would not constitute a significant change. If you can still be identified from the photo in your current passport, you do not need to apply for a new passport.

When someone takes your passport photo, you must remove your face covering or mask so your full face is visible and the face covering and mask do not block portions of your face. We need to see your full face to establish your identity.

Your photo is a vital part of your visa application. To learn more, review the information below on how to provide a suitable photo. Digital images are required for some visa categories, while photos are required for other visa categories. The acceptance of your digital image or photo is at the discretion of the U.S. embassy or consulate where you apply.

If you are applying for a nonimmigrant visa by filling out the DS-160 or DS-1648 online form, the form will instruct you to upload your digital image as part of completing the online visa application form. Review the Digital Image Requirements, which also provide additional requirements if you are scanning an existing photo.

Some embassies and consulates require visa applicants to bring one (1) photo, which meets requirements, to the interview. Review the embassy or consulate instructions where you will apply to learn more.

While we recommend you use a professional visa photo service to ensure your photo meets all the requirements, you may take the photo yourself. Photos must not be digitally enhanced or altered to change your appearance in any way. Please review the following technical requirements and references for guidance on taking your own photo.

Lay your baby on his or her back on a plain white or off-white sheet. This will ensure your baby's head is supported and provide a plain background for the photo. Make certain there are no shadows on your baby's face, especially if you take a picture from above with the baby lying down.

If your photo(s) or digital image does not reflect your current appearance, even if it is not older than 6 months, the U.S. embassy or consulate will request that you provide a new photo with your application.

Generally, if you can still be identified from the photo in your visa application, you will not need to submit a new photo. For example, growing a beard or coloring your hair would not generally be considered a significant change of appearance.

If the appearance of your child under the age of 16 has changed due to the normal aging process, he or she will generally not have to provide a new photo. However, the acceptance of your photo or digital image is at the discretion of the U.S. embassy or consulate where you apply.

  • Make sure the photo presents the full head from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin
  • Center the head with the frame
  • The person in the photo should have a neutral expression and be facing the camera

Taking a good starting picture for creating a biometric passport photo is easy. Ideally you have a helping hand for taking the photo, because shoulders and big parts of the upper body are shown on the final photo. Your arms usually are not long enought for this job and sadly a selfie (without a stick) won't work.

If you've got a good image printer, you can download your photo for free and as an experienced user fine-tune or retouch your image, and print it afterwards. If you don't have time for this, try our service. We check if the image is suitable, fine-tune and retouch it for a perfect result and then send you your high quality prints.

I've looked through the various posts over the years that have covered this and similar printing questions, but I'm uncertain whether things have changed (I recently switched from using a MS PC to a Mac), but I used to do all my photo printing from Adobe Photoshop Elements and short of buying this again for use on my Mac, I can't seem to find a simple way of creating and printing 45 x 35 mm photos (UK Passport size) from images I've stored on my "Photos for Mac". I can see there are "create" options provided by Apple via preferred App suppliers, but I'm not that keen on buying these services when I'm sure there is a solution to be found in my Mac. Anyone out there got any suggestions??

2 - open the image you want to print and add it to a separate layer in PSE. Size it as necessary and place in the upper left hand corner of the layout. This is so it will printed in the corner and will be easier to cut out as you'll only have to cut two sized.

HI Old Toad, Thanks for your continued interest and support for a Mac newbie. In the interim I have found a work around. I found that if I replicated the image I wanted for the Passport photo 5 times in "Photos for Mac" (so I had 6 images of the same mug shot) and then selected all of them to print in the "contact print" format option, but chose the 4x6 photo paper option for the paper media / size option. I then modified the margin sizes around the image such that all 6 images were on the same page and printed.

The printed results were images that were 48 x 35 mm in size - so slicing 3 mm off the bottom of each image got me 6 useable Passport size photos. Bit of a faff, but I won't have to do it again for a while. In meantime I'm looking at a PSE subscription as I was obviously expecting too much from Photo's for Mac.

When you register for the LSAT, you will be required to upload a photo to your LSAC online account. This photo assists LSAC in ensuring the security and integrity of the LSAT is maintained. Please make sure your photo meets the following requirements:

The Kenya visa needs to be obtained before arrival by both adults and minors. If you need to take a photo of a baby then see the following tips to take a photo. One, your baby's eyes have to be open. If the baby had a good nap then they will be ide awake so take the photo whenever the baby is in a happy mood and with their eyes open and clearly visible. Two, the background of the baby photo needs to be white so use a white blanket or bed sheet or even sheets of paper to comply with this requirement. Three, and if you baby is very young, like a few months old, then you can take your baby's photo when they are in their car seat. Finally, take various photos so that you will have at least a few to choose from.

The answer I found here was helpful if you have photoshop installed which I don't. So I did another google serach & found several apps that take passport photos. They automatically put 6- 2"x2" photos on a 4x6 format that you can print easily or send it to a store to be printed for change. This is a much easier solution.

Do not wear glasses in your photo unless you have to do so. If you must wear glasses, they cannot be sunglasses or tinted glasses, and you must make sure your eyes are not covered by the frames or any glare, reflection or shadow.

The Nigerian Government offers various different types of visas such as a tourist and business visa. No matter what visa you will apply for, you will require to submit at least 2 visa photos. Both parents and their children need to apply all separately.

Hey current and aspiring JETs! I have a question about the candidate voucher the we're supposed to bring with us to our interviews. They ask us to attach a passport sized picture to the voucher, and I was wondering if this can be any formal headshot or an actual passport picture. Long story short, is it appropriate to smile in the photo? I look a bit frightening when I don't smile...

UPDATE: I got off the phone with my consulate and here's what they said. It's different from consulate to consulate, but at least for mine they are okay with me smiling in the photo. The photos are used internally to remember who's who, so they don't need to be true passport pictures, just a formal headshot with the correct dimensions. I hope this helps anyone else who may have this question. :)

Your photograph will be personalised on the data page of your passport or Document of Identity for Visa Purposes by laser engraving. The quality of the image that appears on your passport or Document of Identity for Visa Purposes will depend on the quality and colour of the original photograph you furnish.

Please do not fold, staple, or write on the back of the photograph, or attach the photograph to the application form by paper clip. Otherwise, the photograph will become unsuitable for passport or Document of Identity for Visa Purposes personalisation.

Photos used for passports, ID cards and driving licences must meet certain requirements. These include requirements concerning dimensions, photo quality, background, appearance, position, facial expression, glasses, lighting and framing.

There may be physical or medical reasons that make it impossible for you to comply with the passport photos requirements. If there is any doubt on the part of the body issuing the travel document you may be asked to provide a medical declaration confirming this.
