Curious if anyone is using Tasker for data switching between SIMs based on network signal? I have a second data SIM to switch between networks when my primary provider has poor signal, however the standard automatic function doesn't seem to work on poor signal and maybe only if there is no signal at all. I would like it to switch networks automatically when the signal strength is low before it cuts out.
Hey all, I am just wondering if any of you use dual sim auto data switching, and if so how well does it work for you? I need to improve my cellular reliability due to spots of very poor coverage, where the signal strength is crap ( -115 DBm), and packet loss is significant. I am considering a variety of solutions. The easiest in terms of not adding a bunch of equipment to the vehicle would be just to get a second sim if the dual auto switching feature works well. Somehow though I worry it would require a complete loss of signal though, or else be fairly slow to detect poor throughput and switch over. Which would defeat my whole purpose. I wish there was a better solution for aggregating both data plans. If you happen to have ideas, or experiences I would be very appreciative to hear your thoughts.
The confluent-rebalancer tool balances data so that the number of leaders anddisk usage are even across brokers and racks on a per topic and cluster level whileminimizing data movement. I'm conceptualizing my first real project. I've been through most of the exercises in the "Getting Started with Sketches" book, I have a little bit of background with C, commercial race data systems, MATLAB, and some more background with vehicle dynamics in general. Basically, I know where I need to go but I'm hoping to discover the route through discussion here
Acceleration is not a brilliant way to measure torque but if you can collect a big enough data set then you might be able to get somewhere. I mean - I can compare data logging results and see a 10% difference although it needs some careful analysis to make it obvious. But if you're using this for tuning then you need much finer resolution than that.
The first step will be to try and get the Arduino to talk to my vehicle's ecu through its serial connection. It's been done before for the purposes of adding LCD displays, etc. so the code, protocol, and necessary addresses are all readily available. The data will come in handy for a few reasons:
-I can log it to to and SD card that way and have far more storage than I already have onboard (4Mb)
-I can output to .csv and manipulate the data in Excel/Mathcad/MATLAB
-I can work toward my end goal of creating a "real time dyno" type of algorithm
-I can implement some sort of LCD or add an mpguino type of display to the car.

Normally the ecu's CN2 data port is used as described in the last link. On my ecu I have installed an emulator/logging board that occupies that spot for its own purposes, but I discovered that I can add an output header to the board as shown below:
The trick is going to be to figure out the data addresses and baud rate of the emulator board, as they are not the same as the oem ones. I'm confident that the information is out there, I just haven't stumbled on it quite yet.
I've also already added a header to the ADC inputs (H7 at the lower right of the board in the picture), so I will also be able to feed data back to it for logging, or add extra sensors here and there. Should be fun.

This massive automotive collection of data creates potential security and privacy risks for both the state and its citizens. Some of the environmental or geographic data gathered, transmitted, or storedby vehicles could have national security implications if abused, or could be used to identify or document behavior of drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.
The Provisions are not final, and it is likely that domestic Chinese automakers have pushed back against some of these proposed requirements during the comment period that ended June 10, as the most stringent rules could block some of the services offered by manufacturers and limit the amount of data that could be collected. This would reduce the availability of valuable data inputs that auto firms could leverage to improve their self-driving algorithms. It may also put Chinese auto companies at a technical disadvantage versus their U.S. competitors, who are not yet subject to specific federal laws or regulations on connected car data security in their home market, despite several proposed bills pertaining to connected driving. At the moment, U.S. AV companies such as Waymo and Tesla are among the most experienced self-driving companies, and they collect vast pools of real-world driving data.
It appears likely a combination of new binding rules such as the auto data Provisions and influential but nonbinding standards such as the pending important data guidelines will clarify ambiguities in how data is to be handled across numerous industries.
