This little anvil passed through my hands recently, and I wanted to document it in case anyone else stumbles across a similar one. I know they've been discussed here before, but nothing in the reviews. So here's some fresh info.
So, REVIEW! Like any cast Swede, this thing rings like a clarion bell. Rebound is excellent 95%+. While you can clearly see the casting lines under the horn and heel, it doesn't detract from the excellent quality of these anvils. Even a 90# like this will move metal like you wouldn't believe.
The Anvil appears to be a Swedish North Star anvil. These anvils were imported to the U.S. directly from Kohlswa thru the Swedish-American Steel Corp. Which was located in Trenton N.J. Most of these have the actual weight stamped on them in Lbs. I currently own 2 of these, a superb 96 pounder and a 117 pound beauty. These also normally have a date code embossed on the feet although some runs had a date code on the underside of the horn. Hope this info helped.
Welcome aboard TonyO, have you read this yet? READ THIS FIRST It will help you get the best out of the forum. Pictures of your anvil will help ID it. Also knowing where in the world you are located will help, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location.
Once the anvil is collected, players can see and collect blueprints for Items up to Rare quality. Upon collection, blueprints will be available for use on all your characters. Similar to the Tavern barrel drinks, uncommon blueprints only start appearing in NG+1 and rare blueprints in NG+2.
The Magic Anvil is an object obtained in Angry Birds Epic after completing Cobalt Plateaus 4. It is used to forge new equipment using resources. An upgraded version, the Golden Anvil and Diamond Anvil can be purchased at the shop to increase the attributes of weapons and offhand items
When the player obtains a new blueprint for equipment, he or she can use the anvil to forge the weapon/offhand item. The player will not receive the item if there is insufficient resources required in the inventory. Once forged, a die with 0 to 3 stars on each side is rolled to determine the attributes of the object (example: a 1-star Fork Lance will give 22 attack damage, while a 3-starred one will give 26 attack damage).
i guys im new to the forum and posted earlier about this anvil i found in a barn i believe its a american star the horn has seen better days but the face is in great shape and edges are quite nice as well has incredible rebound this barn had a bunch of anvils in it the owner wants $350 per anvil doesnt matter if the anvil is 250lbs or 30lbs he woulnt budge on any prices i grabbed the star and got it home it weighs 166lbs hope i didnt over pay any input would be great thanks
That is indeed an American Star. They are unique among steel-faced cast iron anvils by having that hole in the base. That feature was patented in February 1853. They were made in Trenton, New Jersey (and are no relation to Trenton anvils, which were made in Germany first, then in Ohio, never in New Jersey) between 1853 and around 1870 or so, when they seem to have been bought out by Fisher-Norris. Charles Peters, who owned the patent, may have been an employee of Fisher who broke off to form his own company.
Given the shape it's in, $350 is a fair price. It looks like the steel face is a bit thinner than that of Fisher, but thicker than those of Vulcan. It almost qualifies as collectible, but only almost. Enjoy it! And don't worry that it doesn't ring, the steel-faced cast iron anvils don't ring. That was part of their selling point back in the day.
I spent a fair bit more for my anvil, over paid for sure, but they dont come around every day. $350 for 166 lbs anvil sounds like a good deal to me, plus you get the satisfaction of owning a piece of history. Congratulations on your new partner.
Blacksmiths can forge weapons from different materials. The materials used decide the weapon to be created as well as any additional properties, such as element, the weapon will have. Forged weapons do not have Card Slots. Rods, Bows, Instruments, Books and Katars cannot be forged, nor can Level 4 weapons.
When forging a weapon there are 3 available slots for modifying items. Items such as Flame Heart, Mystic Frozen, Rough Wind and Great Nature can be used to imbue the weapon with the Fire, Water, Wind and Earth properties, respectively. A weapon may only have one element at a time and using more than one elemental stone will cause the forge to fail. Slots may also be fitted with Star Crumbs. One, two, and three Star Crumbs will (respectively) add +5, +10, and +40 Mastery ATK to all attacks from the weapon.

Forging refines defects from cast ingots or continuous cast bar. A casting is defined as having neither grain flow nor directional strength and the casting process cannot prevent the formation of certain metallurgical defects. Pre-working forge stock produces a grain flow oriented in directions requiring maximum strength. Dendritic structures, alloy segregations, and similar imperfections are also refined in forging.
Forgings are consistently more reliable and often less costly over time compared to castings. Casting defects occur in a variety of forms. Because hot working refines grain patterns and imparts high strength, ductility, and resistance to each forged piece they are also more durable. Also, they are manufactured without the added costs for tighter process controls and inspections that are required for castings.

There are three forges available from which you can craft items; you start with one unlocked and can buy the other two. Every anvil has a charge which is consumed each time you craft an item on it. The number of available charges are displayed next to the anvil and selecting a forge will show how close you are to recovering a charge. Charges are recovered over time at a constant rate, regardless if you're on the Smithing screen or not.
There aren't many upgrades that decrease the recovery time on forge charges, making the time required to upgrade items the largest bottleneck in Smithing instead of resources. Therefore, it's highly recommended to spend the first 200 gems you acquire on the Infinity Forge, which completely bypasses the need for charges in addition to awarding +100% Smithing EXP. You may instead want to save 500 gems for the Gem Portal , and then after recovering 200 gems, buy the Infinity Forge.
If you don't have the gems to purchase the Infinity Forge, then there are Forge Coupons that have a rare chance to drop in Raids. These coupons recharge your anvils to the maximum amounts you've purchased, making them useful if you've depleted all of your charges. For best efficiency, use these when you've unlocked all three forges and a moderate amount of additional charges. They become unusable once you unlock the Infinity Forge.
One of the last orange Mountains skill perks grants +20% chance to double craft per level, up to 100%. When successful, this perk allows you to craft two items for the cost of one, skipping the next upgrade cost and only consuming one forge charge.
When you've cleared The Mist and have unlocked the Skilltree Overcharge Ascension perk, the Double Crafting perk can be upgraded to 200% chance. Every % after 100% acts as "Triple Crafting", meaning you'll be able to craft three item upgrades for the cost one. Similar to before, this means upgrading an item will skip the next two upgrade costs and still only consume one forge charge.

Next time after your 120 layers are welded, forge the billet round before twisting and you can save some material. It will give a slight variation on the pattern but if you try to do a tight twist it will keep the corners from tearing apart and having to grind them or forge them back into the billet.
