In Along Came a Spider, after shooting the wrong inmate during an all-out fight in the prison yard, Sam has been moved to the women's prison. While ushering inmates into their classroom, Sam makes eyes with some of them as they levy sexual comments his way. Mariam McLusky warns him that he'll get in trouble before launching into her class' lecture about viewing the human species as a whole rather than as a collection of tribes. One inmate chooses not to listen, and instead eyes Sam with a pocket mirror as he stands in the back of the class.Sam meets up with some of the other guards from the aforementioned women's prison who walk him through just how the inmates will try to manipulate him into getting cushy jobs or just getting at him. He's advised to be a robot and stick strictly to the rules as written. As the group closes down the cells for the night, one of the inmates makes suggestive comments toward Sam, who doesn't respond but isn't quick to avert his eyes from her mostly naked body. Later, the female inmate who's been eyeing Sam grabs him as she walks past. He eventually tells her to keep moving but it takes him a while and he fails to respond until another guard says something. Eventually, Sam makes the rounds of the women's prison at lights-out where he runs into the suggestive inmate lying naked in her bed. He stands staring while her cellmate records his behavior on a cell phone.
There is a scene where the female inmates are studying human evolution. Is this all they could come up with? While Mike is being sent out to the same property twice and Sam is lollygagging around the prison, they come up with human evolution. Slashing about three episodes from the show would speed up the progress significantly.
Mariam is a teacher in the Kingstown prison system, educating female inmates. She tends to look for the good in people, which is a dangerous approach in her work with career criminals. She does not approve of Mitch and Mike making a career outside the law, which has caused a rift in their relationship. While little is known of Mariam's late husband, she has made statements that he too lived a less-than-honest life, so she seems particularly concerned that her sons are following in her husband's doomed footsteps.
Parents need to know that Mayor of Kingstown is a crime drama about corruption in a city run by private prisons. The drama comes from an ongoing war between factions of criminals on both sides of the law, in prison and in law enforcement, as they struggle for power within the town. Violence is a major part of the show, and is nearly always shown head-on with an emphasis on blood, injury, and death. The series also contains sexual content, including female nudity and simulated sex. Drug trafficking and police corruption are two of the major plotlines, and while the series seems to want to make a statement about the American prison system, the themes get muddled in favor of violent plot twists.
The fictional prison known as Wentworth first made its appearance on Australian television as the female prison where Prisoner: Cell Block H was set. In fact, Wentworth is something of a modern-day Prisoner, and many of the stars, including Pamela Rabe who plays "The Freak," are very familiar with the original cast.
So, Cherry, the female inmate who took Sam's life, doesn't even have a proper name. Her friend just called her Cherry, warning her not to mess around with the prison guard. And let me tell you, she played everyone like a fiddle. We still don't know why she did it, but some think it could've been a hit ordered by the Crips in the men's prison. Apparently, Sam had done some messed up stuff, like killing a black inmate and seriously hurting another. So, maybe Cherry was out for revenge from the moment he got transferred to the women's prison.
Miriam, the teacher, was not happy about Sam being transferred to their side. She called the person who made that decision a moron, 'cause they totally underestimated the female prisoners. Like, these ladies can be just as cunning and violent as the guys, okay?
