Ryan, I know you're right about room bindings. Composer allows me to bind the driver to the relevant serial Input port, but does not offer me any binding options for the Outputs (which are Contact Sensor Outputs labelled Zones 1-8). Obviously because I have not added any to the project - the sensors for the zones are after all connected to the NX8E panel, and not the Controller. How do get the zones into the project to make the bindings?
If i read your question right you got to add eacch zone and the name into your control4 so will be able to see if a door is open or not and with the name of each zone . The nx8 keypad send the zone signal to your control4 . Correct me if i'm wrong anybody ??
OK, here's the scenario: This is a new house, and the owner prefers to see (and operate) the alarm from the C4 touchscreens (there are 2) rather than the alarm keypad, so there are NO keypads in the house. The NX8 is installed and set up, with just PIR sensors (not C4, but generic) connected to the alarm panel, not the controller. There are no door sensors, just PIR sensors in the zones. I don't know the zone allocation, but I do have a temporary NX148 keypad hooked up to the bus, so I can probably use it to find out, just never done it before, have you?
when i instal my system myself i tried to make a mistake just to see whats happen. the result was that the red light do not flash if its incorrect. To find witch PIR sensor is where or what you can try to make it flash and see in the c4 touchscreen ( sensor page ) wich one flash and where . I think you will need composer home edition or maybe your dealer to help you to reindentify your PIR sensor. I dont have control4 sensor too just the generic and it works perfectly.
I AM a Control4 dealer, Louis. It's just that the technical department and training team where I live (South Africa), are unable to assist. But it can be done, of course. As I said, the device is connected properly to the NXE, it's plugged into Serial 1 of the controller, I have the driver loaded in my project, I've made the serial connection in the software. But still the Navigators say 'No results found'.
I see the zones 1-8 in Connections, waiting to be bound to a contact sensor or PIR, but there are none connected to the controller - they're connected to the NXE like a standard system. Am I supposed to mirror the motion sensors in the project, or is the virtual keypad device (NX587E) not relaying that information to the controller?
Any follow up form Control4u on this last step? My dealer just installed the Nx587e and I see it in the Navigator and in Composer, but I don't see any connections to windows, motion detector, doors or fire/co2 alarms. When I looked at the Security module in Composer HE I am given a standard set of generic variables to work with, then a blurb on how to program the panel--but I am finding this confusing. If I program the panel following its instructions, will the dealer be able to make connections in Composer Pro that correspond with door sensors, etc? Then after that I can program based on those?

You will now set you entry and exit delays for any doors. You will do this in program location 24. Location 24 has six segments. We will be focusing on only 4. When you enter this location you will enter the first value in the first segment and then press * to move to the next segment. To exit; you will enter #. The four segments are as follows:
To program the zone definitions for each zone; you will go into each location and input a zone definition into the appropriate segment. After entering the definition you will press * to advance to the next segment. This is true with the partition locations as well. Each zone will be its own segment and there will be toggle options that can be turned on and off by pressing the corresponding number. These toggle numbers are the partitions.
We recommend, for ease of programming, that you write your zone numbers down on a sheet of paper and then to the right of each zone number write its zone definition. That way you can just go down your list and type each number as you go.
Learning in wireless devices on a NetworX system is a little different than most alarm systems. If you have a receiver that is not brand new then you will have to set it back to default. You can do this by following the steps below:
To activate the panic buttons for Police, Fire and Medical on your keypad you will do the following steps. These only need set if you have central station monitoring or a way to have the alarm send you notifications.
By default the Interlogix NetworX alarm systems require the use of resistors. We recommend that you use End-Of-Line resistors always as they provide a measure of supervision to each zone and help to prevent tampering on the zone.
Hello All, I am new to this group, but desperately need your help. We bought our home and it has a Caddx NX-8 alarm system with a 148E keypad. There are no notes, information about what the master or user codes might be, so I think I will have to reset the system to default, but no matter what i try I cannot get it to go. Could be looking at the wrong instructions too.
At this point, the location of the vera is open. With my ademco, I installed an ASUS router that I configured as a repeater/extender next to the alarm panel and plugged my vera lite into the back of that. So, the vera is physically connected to the alarm panel and wirelessly connected to the router. I probably should consider adding a powered usb hub to that mix since i am using a usb stick for logging.
Well the board in the picture is not wireless and the way mine is setup for wireless is the keypad has wires going to it but all wireless zones connect to (wireless) that. So easy way, check and see what the keypad or pads models. If they not compatible then no wireless if they are. Then programming (amusing you can get in) you can find which wireless zones are active.
Also in the picture you have no expansion boards or any other add on modals in that box. Looks to me like they have alot of zones grouped together. Probley front door and read door and such are on one zone. That board only has a max of 8 zones. Now would be the time to add a NX218 to split them up so vera can read front door and rear door seperatly.
I would like to express my sincere Tks to LeeF
For the last 6 months I was building my smart home using Samsung Smartthings hub , I have everything pretty much integrated except my CADDX/Interlogic security panel NX-8e, my current setup has 25 zones all wireless ( smoke, water-leak, doors and Motions + Key fobs and LCD keypads ) is been working flawlessly for the last 10 years.
I was very close to thought out my security panel because of lacking of integration with Smartthings until LeeF show up with his Interface so I got the Alarm System Bridge (main interface) + the Trigger Relay Module from him
So far my main problem is resolved I do have my NX-8e + all sensors in to my Smartthings app so all the expectations are pretty much cover very well
Things to highlight
1.- Instructions very clear and straight forward.
2.- Hardware interface quality build excellent
3.- Change Status on the Smartthings Panel App on events very very fast.
4.- Pre and Post Installation support A1, in my case I had some wrong setup he was able to guide me in the right direction to fix the underline problem on my setup.
5.- not only Smartthings integration but Alexa too that is a big big plus
6. Integration with Webcore, not just for build notifications but it pretty much open a door for an unlimited complex automation scenarios
One thing I would like to mention I did not spent a lot of time on this but I was able to add all the NX-8e Child Tiles ( zones) in to Action Tiles and I can see the current status for those who has Action tiles on an Amazon fire tablet this is a plus probably a little bit more works needs to pun tin this space but it has a lot of potential
This integration saved me to spend a lot I mean a lot of money in replacing my current CADDX/Interlogic security panel NX-8e setup ( all 25 sensors , keyfobs and LCD Keypads) with all brand new stuff, excellent piece of work and very inexpensive solution this is a win win
Tks a lot LeeF
