Hello all,

I have three sensors, connected by USB as /dev/ttyUSB0 (and 1 and 2).  digitemp can see them, but am I correct that only one sensor can be in an rc file?  I'd rather not have to have three separate files, and then run three separate instances, each specifying a separate rc file to monitor each sensor.

Feel free to point me to the approriate doc, if I've just missed it.

Thanks for any info.

Hi Dale,

Yes, but is each one on a different serial/USB port, or are they
multiple sensors on a single port.  I know digitemp handles the latter
easily, but I have the former, and when I do "digitemp -i" on the second
port, it just overwrites the rc file for the first, so unless I miss
something, I can have only one port per rc file, and digitemp only uses
one rc file per invocation.  I know I can create three separate rc
files, and then write a script to run digitemp against each
sequentially.  I was just hoping I didn't really need to do so.

Yep, I have single USB device.  Sounds like you will need 3 'runs' using the -c option for each USB device.

Why are you using 3 adapters? The 1-wire bus can handle multiple
sensors.

You will have to run it 3 times, pointing to a different config file for
each adapter, it's not designed to communicate with more than one at a
time.

Good luck!

Because I didn't know much when I bought them on eBay, and I don't want
to build my own. If my little "experiment" works out, I may well look
for a different configuration.

That's what I was trying to confirm. I can imagine modifying the
config file to have a separate section for each adapter, but probably
not worth the effort.
