This is JH0PCF Kanda.
A friend of mine contacted me about a transmission problem, so I'm posting this.

Hello thanks for the QSO today. Sorry I didn’t catch your name. I have attached a screenshot of the error that I’m getting when FreeDV (2.0.1) sends a CAT command to the rig (FT-818), this doesn’t happen in version 2.0.0. When I start FreeDV it works fine, and can decode signals coming in. When I press the PTT and TX it works, but when I click the PTT again to go back to receive I get the error (screenshot). I can clear the error, but it will come back again if I try to transmit. Also if I use FreeDV to change frequencies, the rig will start to transmit. As far as I can tell there seems to be a problem with Hamlib. FreeDV works fine, and as far as I can see the settings are the same in both versions. I have tried ver 2.0.1 on 2 different PCs and they are both the same. I only have Windows PCs with me in Japan. Thanks for your help Steve 7J3AKY / ZL1TZPNew Bitmap Image.bmp

I get similar with my IC-746.  I suspect the cause is RF.

Cheers

Hi Steve,

Do you have this issue with other ham radio applications (i.e. WSJT-X)? If not, any way you can get what version of Hamlib those are using?

Thanks,

I'm working in Linux with my Xiegu G90.  I get a similar error when I go from TX to RX on my system.  I too suspected RF. Especially, because  it doesn't do it on low power <20W, but when I use my amplifier ~100+W, it does it consistently.  I put some snap on ferrite chokes on my CAT cable going into my radio.  Solved my problem.
