Thank you for your continued support.
This is JH0PCF Kanda.
This is a rudimentary question
About PTT control with FreeDV software.
With PTT Config using Flrig, in the USE Hamlib setting
I can't send and I can't read the frequency with FreeDV.
There is a clear description in the user's manual
I am in trouble because there is no such thing.
I would appreciate it if you could teach me.

Hi Kanda,

What radio are you using with FreeDV? You should be able to use the same settings for CAT control that you use with other ham radio applications (such as WSJT-X).

Thanks,

Mr. Mooneer, this is JH0PCF Kanda.
Regarding this matter
With a consultation from a friend of mine
I am posting.
I also use the same radio as my friend
It is possible to reproduce a certain environment in question.
The radio uses FTDX3000 from Yaesu.
The connection between the Windows PC and the radio is a USB connection,
Set the COM port on the CAT side to Flrig and FreeDV.
Specify PTT Config> Use Hamlib PTT
Rig Model is called Flrig Flrig.
In addition, WSJT -X and logging software are also related to Flrig.
Launch Flrig and set FreeDV's PTT Config as Flrig Flrig
When you start FreeDV, "Couldn't Conect to Radio With hamlib"
Error message is displayed and FreeDV software stops.
Is there any solution?

Hi Kanda,

Some additional questions:

1. Have you tried selecting the FTDX3000 directly (instead of going through FLrig)? Or if that radio isn't listed, perhaps another similar Yaesu model?
2. Do you have other radios that you can try FLrig with? Unfortunately I don't have a FTDX3000 at home to test, but if the issue happens with other radios I can try to duplicate here.
3. What version of FreeDV are you using?

Thanks,

-Mooneer K6AQ

Mooneer Thank you for your answer
FTDX3000 to FreeDV without going through Flrig
You can connect and send.

I don't have any other radio to try FLrig
You can't try it, with a Yaesu radio
What can be a USB COM port (CAT control) internally
Trying it on an external interface such as SCU-17
I think you can.

FreeDV version tested with 1.7.0 and 1.8.0
I am also testing with 1.6.2.

In the user's manual
PTT Configuration
Hamlib: support for many different radios via the Hamlib library and a serial port (or via TCP / IP for some devices, e.g. SDRs or FLrig / rigctld).
There is a description, but can it not be used with FreeDV software for Windows?

Hi Kanda,

I haven't had a chance to test on Windows yet but I did try 1.8.0 with the FT-817 and FLrig on a Mac. I configured FreeDV to use "FLrig FLrig" in the PTT/Hamlib settings and "localhost:12345" for the serial port and the application seemed to start and trigger PTT no problem. If it helps, I'm running flrig 1.4.4.

Anyway, let me know if I need to try different settings and I can give that a shot. It's possible that FreeDV is not behaving properly with FLrig settings that aren't actually correct.

Thanks,

-Mooneer K6AQ
