I note that if the modem is running and I change band/mode on my
radio(s) the reported mode (USB or LSB) does not change until the modem
is stopped and restarted.

Perhaps a slow update rate CAT query could be implemented just to keep
the radio and freedv's GUI in reasonable sync?

Going to Tx then back to Rx does not update the mode shown. I have not
tried this using the split setting.

Hi Brian,

I believe it updates when reporting a newly seen callsign to PSK Reporter as well. Based on that, I feel it'd be okay to have it re-check after coming out of TX. However, I'm not sure about any more often than; we were originally going to have it check every few seconds but switched it to on start only due to concerns about possible additional load.

Thanks,

Any improvement would be worthwhile I think, my own experience is that it is easy to get it un-synced but it may not be that important. Does the modem care about the frequency inversion from using the opposite sideband? If it doesn't (as long as the AF is centred on 1500Hz) and I'm right in thinking of it as QPSK with the opposite phase rotation, maybe this could be limited to rx->tx and tx->rx transitions just for nicety.

Hi Brian,

I created a PR for further discussion and development (https://github.com/drowe67/freedv-gui/pull/158).

Thanks,
