Below is the list of stations that participated in the FreeDV 40M Tuesday Night Activity Net that met on 07/28/26 at 9 PM EDST on 7182 kHz. Dudley, WA5QPZ, records this net and posts it on his YouTube channel “WA5QPZ.” It is a good way to hear what you sound like as well as some of the stations that you may not have copied. While the net is in progress, you can listen live to this recording on YouTube or you can listen to the receiver in Utah that Dudley connects to his Echolink node (under his callsign).
In addition, Dayne, K8CHY, conducts quick checks for stations starting around 30 minutes prior to the net start time. It is a great time to get a check out your transmit setup as well as the propagation conditions.
Based on FreeDV Reporter, Netlogger, and over-the-air check-ins, we had 42 participants including one SWL as follows:

Two other comments:
1. Please put your name and QTH into FreeDV Reporter when you start the FreeDV program. This will help all of us learn who is who.
2. If you can (assuming you want to try it), download “Netlogger” and monitor the net. This will put you onto a list in the order that you start monitoring from which I can easily create an organized check-in list. You can also see the check-in list that I have created which includes FreeDV Reporter stations as well as any other over-the-air check-ins. This is how Dudley, WA5QPZ, and I try to keep the two of us in sync. If you see the designation “lurking”, it means that I have not yet added you to the list of check-ins.
I hope that everyone enjoyed the net. See you Tuesday, August 4, at 9 PM EDST.

Hello Fred, after meeting the Group at the Orlando Ham vacation I have been trying for months to correctly Configure my computer for the icom IC 7300. But to no avail.  The “easy setup “ portion Of the Software ONLY shows the on board Sound cards or the USB external sound cards that I plug-in, but it never recognizes the Icom On board fire wire connection in the drop-down box. Yet, I know that the rig is configured correctly, the drivers are correct and the fire wire connection works perfectly for CAT control on FL Digi, and other modes.  At this point, I really need “Elmer“ to help me with this. Hopefully, someone who might be able to sign onto my PC with something like “any desk“ and look to see what I’m doing incorrectly or if I have a rig problem. I have checked and double checked everything and would sure appreciate some help. This is probably not the place to reply, but I didn’t know how else to reach this group. If you can help, I would appreciate an email to Verobe...@gmail.com
Thanks so much and 73.Thanks so much and 73.

Jim,
You are asking for help in the right forum but I am not the right guy to give it to you. I am sure someone else will step up to help you.
By the way, please explain the firewire interface in more detail. I have an IC-7300 as my standby radio and it has no firewire interface.
Regards,
Fred

Fred,
Thanks for the very prompt reply. I misspoke Fred on the “fire wire”. It is actually the USB – B connector on the back of the 7300.  It does resemble the old Apple fire wire connectors.
It does resemble the old Apple fire wire connectors. It does resemble the old Apple fire wire connectors.

Do you have any suggestions on how I might Approach the group with the hope of finding someone who could assist?

Again, thanks

– Jim.

Jim,

I can definitely help you with that.

If you open up the FreeDV software, and click on HELP, follow the links to the page for help resources.

One of those options will be a link to my ZOOM channel, for doing exactly what your looking for.

You will be able to interact with us, and share your screen, so we can guide you through the steps necessary to get you operating with your IC-7300.

Since you already have it working with other digital software, that confirms that you have the USB codec interface part working, which is a major step already.

With FreeDV, it does require that you have 1 more additional audio source, and that’s your ANALOG speaker/mic option, which could be your laptop speakers, or some other set.

In my case, I use a separate USB Speakerphone, just to make it extremely simple.

But feel free to drop by the ZOOM channel when you get the chance, and lets get you on the air with FreeDV in quick time.  http://www.k5wh.net/zoom for the direct link.

All the best,

Walter/K5WH

Walter, this is exactly the help I was looking for.  I have reason to believe it’s probably a simple configuration issue, but I have run out of options. I’m so delighted to know that there is help available. I want to join in as soon as possible. And yes, I am aware that an additional Sound card is required and I do have the ability to do that.  I have a USB microphone as well as several USB plug-in sound cards in addition to the computer Sound card. I believe I have what it takes to make this work but just need some direction. I will look forward to joining you on the Zoom calls.  Is there a particular time that the zoom channel is active?

And again, thanks for the help

– 73 – Jim.
