Hello,

I started testing with freedv last weekend. I installed and configured all by following the guidelines and it nearly works ;-)

I can receive signals and hear them, but I have problems on the tx side.

When I press ptt the TS590S goes into tx, but it does not produce any output power. ALC meter also does not show any activities.

I use an analog headset connected to the builtin sound card of my PC. Just ordered an USB headset and hope that this will work.
Besides that, I do not understand, why it should not work with the analog headset.
When I press ptt and look at the frm mic panel in the software, I see all the peaks but nothing goes to the TS590S.

When I setup the USB Codec driver of the builtin soundcard of the TS590S as windows standard sound output device and play the 1k_2k_sweep.wav file, the TS590 goes into tx mode and the wattmeter and the alc meter show me, that it works.
So the tranceiver controll must be ok. The only thing that does not work is the transmission from freedv software to the tranceiver.

So has anyone an idea what could be the reason for my problem?

Best regards
Helmut

Have you seen this:

Page 19 has a lot of info, but I think you really have to read the whole document. There's also this:

Thank you so much. I will read this and see what I did wrong and hopefully get it to work.

I just red the first PDF document and saw, that I allready setup everything right (at least, I am pretty sure I did).
Then I saw the pictures of the FDMDV Software. So I dowloaded it and started it and setup the Audio settings and guess what? When I press tx, the TS590S goes into tx mode and the wattmeter shows that it is sending something. I opnly tried it on my dummyload so far, but later  I will try it on air with another ham and see if it works.

So seems to me that something is not working correctly in the freeDV Software.

A clear possibility!

I finally got it to work.

I had to uncheck the "use hamlib" option in the ptt settings menue.

Now it works.

That's a good idea, since that radio has multiple PTT options, not just CAT.

Hallo Marian,

yesterday I got it to work. I only had to uncheck the "use hamlib" checkbox in te ptt settings window.

No it works as far as it transmitts my signal. I had some short test QSOs with my local ham buddies.

We could copy each other, but sound quality was poor. We tried on 80m and on 40m. Probably it will be better on other bands.

I also looked at the QSO finder, but I cannot login to it. I see the chat window and what is written, I see who is logged in and I see the buttons with the frequencies. I can enter the callsign, but when I click login, nothing happens.

So it looks like there is still much work to do to get that stuff working well.

Kind regards
Helmut
