Installed version 2-0-0-dev2 of FreeDV on a WIN 11 PC. TS-590 is connected to PC with a USB-cable for audio and CAT. RX is working fine. CAT control also working (however only direct - not with COM port splitter VSPE). No output in TX. Audio Line Selection for Data Communication is set to USB.  USB Input level on TS-590 set to max, Speaker output level on PC set to 100%. Anybody using successfully TS-590SG with WIN 11? Any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Martin,

This is a known issue. For the next release, there will be a new "PTT via" option for Hamlib inside Tools->Easy Setup/CAT & PTT Config to tell the TS-590 (and other similar radios) to use the Data port for TX audio instead of the Mic port. Example screenshot below:

Hi Mooneer,
Great, looking forward to this version.
I listened to a long conversation last sunday on 40 m, and I was very impressed by the voice quality of RADEV1. Hope to be able to participate soon.
Tnx

Mooneer,
Was just thinking if this additional setting is really needed. I would assume, that the data port is always used when it is available and not the MIC port. So you could just internally handle all the concerned rigs as using the data port for TX signal. Also, 'CAT via Data port' is not obvious to understand. CAT is via USB socket (or other CAT connector), and TX signal is via Data port.
Just from the user view...

Hi Martin,

Other apps do allow one to select between USB/ACC2 and MIC for the radios where this matters, so FreeDV should probably match that behavior too. Maybe the drop-down could be named "PTT (TX Audio) via instead? Then the options can be:

CAT (radio default)
CAT (USB/ACC2)
CAT (Microphone) [not added yet but should be straightforward]
RTS
DTR
None

Let me know if that works any better or if you have additional suggestions.

Thanks,

-Mooneer K6AQ

Not sure if the TS-590SG is exactly like the TS-890, but if it is then
you can probably select the modulation source separately for USB/LSB
versus USB-D/LSB-D for which freedv-gui already has settings in the
Options menu.

Mooneer
The proposed naming here seems to be more clear for the user.
Any idea when the new release will be available?
Thank you

When you use the PTT line, then USB/LSB versus USB-D/LSB-D makes the difference. If you send the TX command by CAT, the command parameter selects the source (MIC/back).

Hi Martin,

Unfortunately the updated naming didn't get into 2.0.0, but the main feature (being able to have TX audio come from USB/ACC2) is there. We'll see how it goes and consider further updates if warranted.

Thanks,
