I have been getting this Error. I was on 40m running about 500 watts when it first happened. I thought it was RF, so I turned the amp off, and it happened again. I turned to power to 0, and it still happened. It would still pop up even on the dummy load. The only way I can get it to stop is to reboot the computer. I can make several calls with amp and no problems for days, and then it returns. Any ideas what this might be, and how to fix it?

Chris,

I have seen this error whenever there is a loss on CAT connectivity.   On the Flex happens if I accidentally drop the SmartCat , drops the communication between HamLib and FreeDV.

Hi Chris,

How long does it typically take after rebooting before the error shows up again? I wonder if it's some sort of Windows thing playing into it as well.

Thanks,

It varies, something I can go for a day or two. Today it was after about 5 CQ calls.

Anything else typically running on your computer when FreeDV is? If so, is it possible to see if there's any difference if some of that isn't running? Trying to rule out anything related to other programs potentially interfering.

Just a browser. It started up again. I also noticed the DVreporter within the FreeDV software wasn't reporting all of the stations that were on. I uninstalled the program, reinstalled and everything is working correctly again. I'll see how it goes.

Hi Chris,

Definitely let us know how it goes. Just to make sure, you're running 2.0.1, right?

Thanks,

Hi Mooneer,

I’ve exhausted all the troubleshooting steps I could think of, but the problem persists. I’ve noticed RF interference entering my external microphones and headsets. To troubleshoot, I’ve tested three different headsets—Yamaha and two Heil models—and I do not experience RF interference in the built-in microphone or my Bluetooth earbuds.

The issue appears to have started after I updated the software. Despite uninstalling and reinstalling the software, the problem remains. My next step will be to uninstall the current version and revert to the previous one to determine if the recent update is causing the interference.

Please advise if you have any additional suggestions or insights.

Thanks,

Chris WS5B

Hi Chris,

Can you go to Tools->Options->Debugging and enable Show Console? This will pop up a command window somewhere that contains log information. It would also help to check the Verbose checkbox as well for a bit more logging information. Once the issue happens again, can you copy and paste the contents of this window into a text file and email it to me off-list?

Thanks,

Mooneer,
When the problem pops up, it locks into transmit. By the time I get everything shut down, FreeDv closes, and I lose the debugging file. Honestly, this just isn't fun for me anymore, so I'm going to give up on FreeDv at this time. Good luck with it, I do believe that someday it will be a great mode. Thanks
