What kind of hardware are folks using that is connected to their computer? Microphone and speaker.

Hi Daniel,

I have a few things that I use. Most common is my OnePlus Bullets BT headset, followed by the speakers and microphone built into my MacBook Pro. I also have a Scarlett Solo with XLR microphone for high sample rate testing and a few other Bluetooth and USB devices laying around for testing those.

Thanks,

I've used a Logitech headset with its USB dongle in the past with good results.
These days I'm using the built-in speakers on an old iMac running Ubuntu Linux and an external mic with an Edirol preamp.
I find that FreeDV RADE sounds better through a speaker than it does in headphones. Not sure why but that's my observation.

speaker?? any good pc desktop speaker will do fine..
mike?? I am using a wireless speaker mic "president liberty" ... so I can walk in the kitchen to grab me a drink and still keep contact
as far as I know uniden bearcat makes a similar unit for us market ( not allowed in Europe)
good desktop Mike? Navaris MM-01is a good usb desktop Mikro ...
and in most cases a 5 bucks headset on the normal soundcard will also work fine

I had tried to use my Bose QC-50 Bluetooth headset.  FreeDV keeps disconnecting the QC-50.

Hi Daniel,

Which OS are you using? FreeDV in itself doesn't mess with Bluetooth settings but it's possible it's doing something that the OS isn't liking and thus causing the OS to do something it shouldn't.

Thanks,

That is what I use around here; but, not for Freedv. I note they can support 48 ksps on the headphones; but, the microphone does not directly support 48 ksps. It's 8 ksps or 16 ksps. Setting to the wrong sample rate might cause problems similar to what  you see.

I use FreeDV on a MacBook Pro.  I just use the internal laptop mic and speakers.  Recently I started using a Bluetooth speaker.

On my Open SuSE Tumbleweed Linux Desktop, I use the internal sound card with external speakers and a small computer mic plugged into the motherboard that just sits on the desk.

Using my new Acer laptop running Winblows 11, I cannot get anything to work at all!
