Thank you for your continued support.
This time, I would like to ask you about the sound device settings of Ubuntu when running FreeDV on Ubuntu.
Especially about the setting of the USB audio codec used for connecting to the wireless device.
Ubuntu does not recognize USB audio codecs
What is done with the configuration file to make it recognized?
Also when you build FreDV locally
(Operation without installing on a computer)
On the radio side of the sender setting in the FreeDV audio setting
The USB audio codec may not be displayed.
To ensure that FreeDV software works
Is there anything I can do? From the repository
With the downloaded FreeDV software Ver1.4.2,
Sound settings Sender tab Radio side USB audio
On the radio side of the sender setting with the locally built FreeDV audio setting
When the USB audio codec is not displayed
It is recognized normally with the same sound device settings.

Hi Kanda,

Do you happen to run PulseAudio on your machine by any chance? Your observation sounds similar to what was discussed over on GitHub (https://github.com/drowe67/freedv-gui/issues/16). There's also a test patch in that issue that forces use of a particular PortAudio pull request (adding PulseAudio support) which may solve that problem. Let me know if that's the case for you.

Thanks,

Thank you for your comment
Install Ubuntu 20.04 LTS again
in etc / modprobe.d / sound.conf
options snd_hda_intel index = 0
options snd_usb_audio index = -2
And set the USB audio codec
Make settings for recognition

In /etc/pulse/client.conf
autospawn = yes to no
as daemon-binary = / bin / true
Remove what was commented out
Enable the setting to see how PulseAudio works
Set to stop and restart
After that, as git clone freedv-gui.git
When I built it, the settings were as expected
I'm done, just with the volume of the FreeDV microphone
Headphone volume can be adjusted with pulseAudio volume control
Can't it be adjusted?

Hi Kanda,

It should be possible to change both microphone and speaker volumes using the "pavucontrol" application. The patch in the previously mentioned PR does not provide an easy way to indicate which source and sink corresponds to which device, however, so it may require some experimentation. I'm currently working with the PortAudio team to provide a mechanism for us to rename the sources/streams FreeDV use.

Thanks,
