Mooneer, I checked the path you sent -   C:\Program Files\FreeDV 1.9.2\share
and the only thing in that directory is another directory called freedv-gui.

What is the name of the audio file? I'll search for it.

Hi Jim,

The files are actually inside that freedv-gui folder. For instance, there should be something called "ve9qrp_700d.wav" in there.

Thanks,

Mooneer, the directory where the wav files are is ...\share\wav and there are a bunch there. How do I specify the location of these files for the app?

Hi Jim,

After pushing Start, go to Tools->Start Play File - From Radio and choose the "ve9qrp_700d.wav" file you found earlier. If FreeDV is properly configured for receive, you should be able to hear the decoded audio from that file. (You can then go back to Tools->Stop Play File - From Radio to stop playback.)

Thanks,

-Mooneer K6AQ

It's working for me now. When I choose to play an audio file I hear a person speaking.
It's still not working for me to receive signals from my radio though. When looking at the meters showing signal strength it's very low.

Hi Jim,

If you push the Analog button and tune around on the band, are you able to hear regular SSB QSOs? If so, that likely means your configuration settings are correct with regards to the radio sound device.

Thanks,

Hi Jim,

Your setup is likely fine for receiving. If you push PTT, do you get any power out on your radio?

Thanks,

Mooneer, thank you so much for you thoughts around me and FreeDV - greatly appreciated.
When I press the space bar my radio transmits and a waveform appears in the freedv app.
Here's what the receive waterfall looks like:

Hi Jim,

Do you happen to have noise reduction turned on? For some reason, Icom doesn't seem to disable processing when in USB-D/LSB-D, which if stuff like NR is turned on could cause problems decoding signals and weird-looking waterfalls.

Thanks,

-Mooneer K6AQ
