Hamlib version with FreeDV

1)    I am using an Icom IC7100 but the FreeDV Hamlib 0.98 (Windows) does not list it. I note WSJT-X which also uses Hamlib supports the ‘7100. I wondered if it is possible to incorporate a similar version into FreeDV?

2)     I have tried to cross-build my own version of FreeDV and a later Hamlib from https://github.com/N0NB/hamlib/tree/master using Ubuntu but have failed to complete the task due to lack of expertise.

Are there any (clear) definitive instructions how to build, or cross-build FreeDV for Windows, and ideally also building the supporting modules needed (eg Codec2,  Hamlib etc) from source?  I have seen various online resources, but nothing seems to be prescriptive enough for me to follow to success.
Thanks

Hi Bob,

Use SVN for the freedv source:

https://svn.code.sf.net/p/freetel/code/fdmdv-dev

See "Building for Windows on Ubuntu Linux (Cross compiling)" section.
Let me know if you get stuck.

I'm using hamlib-win32-1.2.15.3 but can't seem to find the IC7100 on
Linux either.

Cheers,

David

Thanks David, I'll give it a try with that SVN source and instructions.

The date of the hamlib DLL's supplied with FreeDV are (I think) late 2012 vintage, so presumably there are almost three years of hamlib updates available.

We're building against the last release which is quite old. Hamlib 3 has been in the works for quite some time and Nate has talked about finally doing a release.

I don't plan on building against a non-released version but there's certainly nothing stopping anyone from doing it themselves.

Thanks,

Thanks for the explanation, I did notice that WSJT-X supported my radio and others which is why I initially expected FreeDV to be similar. However, I do understand the reluctance to use development versions in any system.

Unfortunately I have still been unable to build and 'package' everything including the latest Hamlib from source due to my own inexperience in cross-building, however, yesterday I found an alternate work-around for the IC-7100:-

If I change the CI-V address on my IC-7100 from the default of 88h to 70h (which is the one used by the IC-7000), FreeDV does seem to work satisfactorily controlling the rig as a '7000; FreeDV works on-air at last!

Thanks
