Hi Mooneer I noticed the following operation in Ver 1.9.0

When receiving, with no FreeDV input signal present, mode in the sync area shows a random mode irrespective of what mode is selected for Tx. Changing the Tx mode does not alter the display of indicated mode in sync box.

Further checking showed this was the case for all 1.8.x releases but 1.7.0 release had different operation where, with no signal present the mode indication followed the Tx mode.

Checking the release notes in the manual suggests that PR #230 possibly changed this behavior.

Not sure if this was intentional

Hello Peter

The change is due to the multi-mode receive option that appeared a
year or more ago in one of the 1.8.x versions, the sync indication
shows the mode that was last detected when multi-Rx is enabled (this
can be multi-threaded or single-threaded depending on selection too).
The Tx mode used is as selected, I think if multi-Rx is not selected
then the sync box will mirror the Tx mode but I will admit I have not
tried this since the multi-Rx code became reliable and my memory is
hazy.

Hope this helps, and I hope you enjoy the newly-released version 1.9.1
which is full of nice new features and code clean-ups with Mooneer as
usual working his magic.

Hi Peter,

I don't recall that being intentional but it shouldn't impact decoding of signals received over the air.

All: is there a preference for this returning to the 1.7.0 behavior?

Thanks,
