Howdy all,

Well, I actually got Winblows11 to work with FreeDV (again!)   after much "hair-pulling"

Same problem as before with the overly complicated  (secretly MS controlled) Win11 audio settings and the need to RE-set the controls I actually thought I had already set before.

Evidently  Win11 changed them when I removed 2.3.0-dev and installed 2.3.0  (release version)

I believe I should have installed the release version alongside the DEV version and then removed the DEV version after getting it all working !!

Ah, but I digress!

I do have a rather "strange" problem that the earlier version didn't seem to have given the same settings.

During a "test" in "Easy Setup Step 2: Setup Radio Control"

Clicking test  'keys"  the transmitter &  produces a Tone(somewhere around1.5-2 kHz) in the speakers (the "Tone" is not transmitted)

If I click "Advanced"  then click "Test PTT" no tone is produced in either the speakers or transmitter. (as it should)

And, everything else works as it should.

If this "normal" then ok......but 2.3.0-dev-xxxxx and  Previous versions did not do this.

Am I still doing something wrong?

Cheers,

Rick

Hi Rick,

The tone is a new feature in 2.3.0 to allow users to confirm that the speaker device is properly set. Looks like everything is working on your end :)

Thanks,

Rick,

I have the same issue, although mine is slightly different in that I transmit tone.

Warmly,
Jason

Thanks Mooneer!

It was REALLY driving Miss Daisy Crazee!!

Jason,

Using FreeDV easy setup,  Winblows 11,  I still select  "USB Audio CODEC"

In Win11 System>Sound: Output

I renamed "Speakers" USB Audio Codec to.......  "To Radio" USB Audio Codec  (Windows names them by default,   "Speakers"

And in Win11 System>Sound: Input

I renamed "Microphone" USB Audio Codec to  "From Radio" USB Audio Codec  Windows seems to name ANY input device  by default  "Microphone"

This has been one the most confusing things about Windows.

Renaming them makes it a little less confusing (maybe!)
